DAILY BUTTERFLIES Page 76
Oh such nice pics everyone...and the more the merrier here!!
Would LOVE to see a Zebra Swallowtail! I had a BST to day and she layed eggs on my Bronze Fennel. I found 6 and brought them in. So I hopefully will have babies here soon!
tlc, the last one is a Red-spotted Purple. Nice shot!
Nanny you seem to be very knowledgeable when it comes to birds and butterflies. Can you tell me what this butterfly is?? Sorry I couldn't get a closer shot of it.
LOL!!! Everything I know about BF's & Birds I learned here on DG! Great group of people here & on the Birdwatching Forum. But thank you for the compliment. ^_^
Thanks Mrs Ed!! Marna is pretty smart too!
Great photos too Mrs. Ed! I want to find more frits...
Thanks to you both. I'm going to have to get me a butterfly book. I only know the more common ones, but I have had some different ones this spring and I sure am enjoying them. I have had a lot of those Red Admirals. They seem to like my lavender a lot.
Nanny, I have never seen a fritillary in my yard. I've only seen them in grassy prairie-type areas. This one park I go to has a small area like that. I've seen Great Spangled, meadows and variegated there.
thank you nanny. all your pictures are great.
Oh, that's such a pretty flower, I can see why they'd go to it.
I had two monarchs today and saw one oviposit on the swamp milkweed. Meanwhile my cat looks to be in the last or next to last instar. Gooooooo Monarchs!
oh nice!
I've lost two butterfly bushes in a row. They both were small plants, in 1G pots. I was wondering if I bought an older bush, would I have better luck. I might be out of room though.
Lost them in the winter or from heat?
I know I bought two large MW one year and they died, my small plants seemed much healthier. Won't buy anymore from nurseries, going to try to take clippings and plant seeds to increase my crop.
Duh.....after that I realize you are talking BF bush. I have had good luck with those. It did take a year or two to get going though. Now they burst with blooms, especially this 'black knight'.
Hah. Yah, butterfly BUSH. I lost them over the winter in both cases. Butterfly Weed is so much easier to fit in and pretty happy in my garden.
Just counted 4 eggs on the swamp milkweed. yayayayayay
Mine drowned in the heavy rains of 2008. I didn't even know which mine was because they had sent me the wrong one. But it turned out I liked the color on it much bettter than the one I had ordered. I ground is such heavy clay and get very saturated so I decided to not try another one.
Congrats on the eggs Mrs. Ed!
My BST eggs are still in my container just laying there! lol
LOL Nanny.
Hey, I often just set my camera in the garage so it will be acclimated.
OMG...I am tired ...at first I thought that read garbage instead of garage.....I mean really!! LOL
Good tip, I will try that.
Nice. The first is a Comma, the second I think is a Wood Nymph.
