Marsue, last year it was poison ivy and sinus for me too. :o( I have Jacob Cline and I am amazed at the brilliant color it has!

Rusty, I hope you didn't get too hot when you mowed and I hope you feel beter right away! I haven't quit taking aspirin yet. You have a nice variety of Hostas!

Thank you Kelli! Those are beautiful Gaillardias. Like perfect mini suns.

I felt pretty good. DH did all the hard work and I cleaned and filled birdbaths. We watered just in case we get no rain and that's ok. We're under a severe thunderstorm watch and it could be coming down pretty heavy by 10:00 pm. I can't wait!

It's 85* and warm out. The house is still nicely cool.

Best friends? Nope, the sparrow is waiting to steal the worm if the robin finds one. I saw him do it the other day and he's been following the robin for a week.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Hot and humid. Reached 91 and also had a few raindrops early this afternoon. It's just too hot for this time of the year!!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Still hot here and we didn't get nearly enough rain.
I was watering containers a bit ago.

Kelli that does indeed Pop!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Blanket flowers are so cheerful looking, Kelli! I have some red ones and also the Oranges & Lemons.
BP: if I was that robin, I would tell that sparrow to "scram!" LOL

It's hot here, too! Too hot to be outside except very early in the a.m. and later in the evening--like after 7 p.m. We haven't had any rain now in almost a week--with this heat, I am having to water my tippy pot plant stands on a daily basis and some of the other containers, too. Everything is drying out really fast. "They" have forecast just a 20% chance of scattered thundershowers so it isn't likely that we will get any rain. I may have to set up the sprinkler later.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

71* and we had 7/10'' rain overnight. Any rain we were to have today, dried up and went under us into Illinois. The sun is almost out and the mosquitos are bad.

Marsue, she finally did try to chase it off. He was persistant.

Celia, your day sounds like a nice one. That is an adorable picture of Isis. She is so inky black!

How is granddaughter Aurora? How is Mama? How is Oma and Opa?

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Rain off & on, but not much. Overcast & cool.
We just finished planting watermelons out.
Also finished up this round of cole crops.

Yesterday, a storm dumped a bunch of hail. A strip about 2 miles wide, all crops were wiped out. Hail was so deep they plowed it off the highways.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Grief that's a lot of hail! It's just hot here, no other way to put it 95* with a heat index supposed to get into the low 100's later this afternoon.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Crissy said it: That's a lot of hail, Bernie! Did it damage any of your gardens?
She was also absolutely correct about the weather!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

No, it was 40 miles north of us.
Sun is out know. I planted some Hostas. Looking Glass, Paul's Glory & Christmas Tree.
More later.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Bernie, I'm glad your gardens were spared. That was more hail than I've seen in my whole life. I can't even imagine it.

I went out for a while, but got very tired of mosquitos. I wore jeans and sleeves. I guess a hat to cover my ears would have been nice too. I swear, someday, I'm buying a head to toe mesh suit.

The electric company came by and sniffed our gas meter. I guess we passed, (I know :o) No one came to the door with a fix-it notice.

81* with a cool breeze.

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone! We are in Switzerland ! I found Andreea so tired and Nicholas don't wanting to sleep. He sneezed twice...finally I've figured out that his little feet were cold and I asked Andreea for a blanket to wrap him with it and we put a cap on his head too. I holded him and patted him on his little butt and finally he fell asleep until 4 a.m...almost 5 hours of sleep! Andreea and Ozgur were able to sleep too and everyone was happy in the morning.
The flight was good and the drive to DD's place too, almost an hour and a half drive. This place is fantastic! Palms all over and giant magnolias blooming. The whole town is placed between the mountains, on lake Lugano's shore.
Will post some pics of the place later. Now here's the baby and his mom, in their favorite position.

Springboro, PA(Zone 5a)

70° F with scattered strong thunderstorms expected through the night. Might have had a small tornado a couple miles west of here this afternoon. Lots of trees down or broken off along a path for a quarter mile or so. Lots of rain here! My 3 rain barrels are full!

Adina.......That's sweet!

Bernie........Glad that hailstorm missed you. That sure would have set you back!

Thanks, re the blanket flower. It's not far from the mailbox so I always stop to look at it when I go out for the mail.

Adina, it's a good thing you're there to help take care of things.

Looks nice, E_B!

They are calling for it to be around 100F this weekend. :-(

Not too bad today!! Some small storms hit us this morning and dumped about an inch on us. Then it remained mostly cloudy all day and temps remained in the high 70s. We were all smiling today!! LOL

Adina, great pic of mom and son!!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

We had a T-Storm rumble thru about 8PM.
Lots of noise VERY little rain.

Lovely shot Adina!

e_b that's some serious blooms there!!

I'm working thru some computer issues involving my PC.
Not storm related.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Adina: that is such a sweet picture of your DD and Nicholas!
Welcome back, EB! We've missed you! Beautiful garden!
Ric: hope you get your computer problems worked out.

You lucky folks with highs in the 70's! Our high was in the mid-90's. It is 82F on my back porch right now (at 8:58 p.m.)

Today was my DGS Zachary's 10th birthday. It is hard to believe he is that old. He is my youngest grandson--and a really sweet boy and smart, too! (spoken like a true grandma!--LOL) He is spending the night with me tonight and I will take him shopping tomorrow for his birthday. He had an "Iron Man" birthday cake.

Well so far so good.
My son's roommate/landlord is a computer repair specialist out in Des Moines.
He suggested a few things. One being the power supply. I'll get that checked out tomorrow.
If it's weak I can replace it easily so....

Still might get some more T-Storms here overnight.

Here's the final update on the Double Chair until we get some cushions.

Here's the finished, for now, wall.
We still have some cleaning up to do....lol!

(Zone 7a)

Medical cabinets! LOL That's great! Do you put stuff in them?

Adina, such a lovely picture of mother and son.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Currently we haven't but I have many more we'll throw up around the place in other locations.
I'll put the Hot Tub stuff in one.
I can find them salvaged for about 20 bucks.
WAY cheaper than good quality garden mirrors.
Throw an extra trowel, gloves and bug spray in each one... you're good to go!

(Zone 7a)

If only Darrell would go for something like that. (sigh)

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

There are better looking cabs out there if that's an issue.
We have a nice faux wood one going up soon Celia.

(Zone 7a)

Darrell has a problem with anything 'rustic', if you get me. The military taught him 'straight lines and order', his dad taught him 'new.'

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

63* and foggy across the field. We're cloudy now, but no chance for rain till tomorrow. High in the upper 70's. Good mowing day!

Adina, I'll bet everyone was so very glad you were there so they could rest, but that's what Grandma's are for! I'm glad you made it safely. I can't imagine what Switzerland looks like. Mother and baby are beautiful! That is a picture to frame!

Early, glad the worst weather missed you too! I love foxglove and I can't get them to grow. Yours are beautiful! The whole yard is beautiful!

Kelli, that looks almost like my Siloam Tinker Toy daylily. I love those small ones. I split mine and each are at the opening of the arbor.

Pepper, I feel that smile!

Ric, hope you get the computer glitches dealt with. The chairs are so spectacular! I love everything about them! The umbrella ia a nice touch for those cloudy days. The shed is like coming home.Nive finishing touches!

Mau, it's hard watch the last one grow up. He has a pretty colorful cake :o)

Celia, I hear Darrel. I like lines and order. DH had to talk to get me to add curves. When you draw a house and yard to scale, curves are hard :o)

I hope the skeeters die out this week. I want to get out and enjoy the yard!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Sunny this morning.
Looking for rain & thunderstorms later tonight.
Planted some Coral Bells last evening. If I ever get this space done I will post a picture.

Amazing how everyone has such different tastes. I like natural in my gardens & having the house look like it did when it was built. Three additions so far & we are keeping the style of the original house.
Only 2 man-made things in my garden. A bird bath & the little angel from the RU.

Glad to see you are enjoying your new family member, Adina. Have a fun time on your trip.

This was taken a few years ago.

Nice shot Bernie.
I have a window like that to repair at my nephew's place.
I'll DMail you for some advise if that's OK.

Ric

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Bernie that's a cute house you got there! Love it, and how the plants droop down from the bottom of the windows. Very nice! Love the color too!!!

LOL Celia I can totally relate to how the Military makes them want everything 'straight lines and order!' Growing up in poverty taught Dave 'new.'

It's going to be 91* with a real feel of 99* today with 'a thunderstorm in spots'

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Bernie, it's a beautiful house! I wouldn't want to change it either. Nice limestone basement. I'll bet your wife really likes her window boxes!

Chrissy, I can relate to Dave's story too. DH doesn't say a word about anything I spend, within reason. The dratted Scottish in me won't let me push it to the limit :o)

It's a gorgeous day, soft breeze, sun and clouds. I got dishes done and laundry hung. When the grass dries, I mow.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Those basement blocks are concrete. I think they were made locally before the big block factories. They are 24" long & very heavy.
We added to the house last fall. No pictures until it's done. Might be next year!

Just back from planting eggplant. About 550 plants.

Not much left to plant now.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

550 plants!!!! WOW!!!!!

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Sunny, Hot, Thundering, no moisture - YET! Should be here soon.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Sunny and somewhat hot again. Was only supposed to reach 81 but it reached 85.

Anyone want to come down here and help me weed? This is my veggie garden. LOL!!!! I'm hopelessly behind in weeding there. I only planted one row of maters, one of peppers, one of lettuce that is ready to be picked, skip an area then 2 rows of onions then 2 of potatoes. That is it. Oh and one strawberry plant behind me maters. LOL. Everything in there is from when I throw my compost in there.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

68° and it just started raining after I took my tubs of iris to the garage. We will have partly cloudy skies, mid 80's, west wind 10 - 15 mph. A good day! The mosquitos have seemed to thinned out a lot. I credit some of with weeding so the wrens can get in there and the toads can hop freely. I have more toads this year than I've ever had before. I love 'em! We were sitting out on Dad's birthday, looked up and saw a bat fly over to our neighbors! In the early afternoon!

Bernie, the concrete blocks are in nice shape. I like the way they look! Oohhh, more home improvement! I'm glad you are able to get all your produce planted. I put in a few eggplant. We like them fried, and cubed into a casserole with hamburger and spagetti sauce.

Dyson, good to see you! Hope you get rain!

Pepper, pull all the big weeds first. Then it looks like you've accomplished something. Keep going till you can hoe the rest. Otherwise, I'd help. Laughing over the one strawberry! Weed around it first so you can find it!

It's raining, it's raining!

Irvine, KY(Zone 6a)

Bernie, I love your house! It is so much fun to have an old one with character than a cookie-cutter. Remember the song "Little Boxes" (made of ticky-tacky)? It is a challenge sometimes to maintain the original flavor but have the modern conveniences. Our house was built originally in 1847.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Sunny. Nice & warm. High humidity.
1" of rain during the night!
Things are growing like crazy now. We picked first peas today. They will go over real good at market tomorrow.
I just finished pruning & tying Blackberries to the fence. They are already blooming.
Need to pick strawberries yet, then things are ready for tomorrow.

I was up early this morning. I drove my stepson's DD to meet the bus to take her to National Guard training for the weekend. Time for a nap!

Bernie

(Zone 7a)

Hot, humid and wonderful!

Houston,...we have a strawberry.
