Janet, I have a big pot of mint for you...calamint, too. They're both busting out of 6" pots.
RU Thoughts
My Kentucky Colonel died... if I can come, I'd love some more from someone...
Darius, I am weeding it out, I'll pot you up a plant today. It's growing up through rocks in a path, so I can't easily dig it out and I have to root cuttings, but they're so easy, they root in half an hour.
Cool!
GREAT!
thanks so much, looking forward to this.
Janet
Sorry, but I am almost certain that I cannot make it this year after all. :((
Darius, so sorry to hear that. Maybe between now and then, something will change, and you will be able to come after all.
since this is at a park, will there be a fee we will need to pay?
Nope, just money... and an old truck that's on its last legs.
Defoecat,
I will bring some yarrow. I would like purple iris if you have some to spare. Or of course violets or other shade wild flowers.
Thanks
Rebecca
Any one have any Baptisia?
Had a bunch of them. They don't like my swamp conditions. LOL
Not sure what's going on here.
Eric grows them 15' away.... his flourish.
But our Valaria does better... and we got it from him.... lol!
Rebecca, I will dig you some purple iris. That is something that I have plenty of.
The fee for the park is $45.00.
I'm sad you can't make it, Darius (Bill is too :o( )
I have some of my potting finished, but I still have a bunch to go...less than a month now!
What's the Shelter # Joyce?
BTW Aarmco is less than 1/2 the cost of the Steamboat Bend Shelter and no Park Pass needed.
Shelter #33. It's a guddun... ;o)
How about some directions for the dumb ones...ME?????
Thanks Cookie... I will bring some money to contribute to the kitty for the park then.
I just looked and see that we have a food thread going. Going to go make a post there.
I did a little weeding yesterday and saw some seedling hellebores coming up. They are small enough that I could dig them pretty easy.... I don't have potting soil, but could put them in just plain dirt --- I don't know how many there will be, but will bring them if anyone is interested and then you all can fight over them. :-)
George - last year you mentioned that you have some lavender (I think) bee balm that grows really well. Might I get a piece of that? I am sure I can come up with a nice daylily to trade for it if you tell me what colors you like....
Would it be the wrong time to bring some Tall Bearded Iris? I have a big clump of Beverly Sills that might have some Superstition mixed in - and they need to go. I don't have a place for them, so will just be composted if I don't find them a home....

Jules, I will give a good home to the TBI, or some of them.
Jules, I moved from my old house and bought a new one in Dec. I didn't get any of my bee balms.(I am going to have to purchase some or beg from friends. I did give some away so hoping theirs did well) Maybe I can get some more stuff to trade up on the thread and we can do some trading.(you know me and daylillies!) Please don't compost any TBI. I need all I can get(another loss from the move)
I am going to have some hardy mums to list in the next day or 2. I got them in a co-op and i wanted to wait to make sure they look good before offering for trades. They are all named and potted.
Geo
Ok, George and Bonnie - I will keep the iris for the roundup and not compost it! LOL
It's ok about the bee balm. I finally got a few varieties to live through the winter. I don't think they liked growing on that hill in back.
Jules
I could take some of the tbi off your hands ,
but only if you have plenty for Bonnie and George.
Also would like some seedling hellebores too
I have some red/pink bee balm, if I can get it to live when I dig it.
Pauletta
I wrote this up for someone who 'MAY' be a mystery guest.....
Cookie weigh in here if you know a better route.
Armco Park, 1223 N State Route 741, Lebanon, OH 45036.
NOT the one in Middletown.... that can get confusing.
Basically take I-75 to St Rt 63 East.
Follow 63 (East) till you get to St Rt 741. Turn left (North).
You will almost immediately see a huge White Barn complex on the right and Otterbein on the left.
Head thru there and as the road opens up to 55MPH you will come to a curve bearing right.
The park entrance is on the left as you exit the curve.
There's also a Fruit Stand on the right just PAST the entrance.
From the east side of Cincy take I-71to the St Rt 741 Exit.
Then 741 North to the park.
Is that close to Grandma's Garden or am I way off here?
Not WAY off but way off.
Google Grandma's Garden and go to about 1/2 zoom.
An easier Google for the Park is I just found out
Shaker Run Golf Club Lebanon oh
But the park entrance is on 741.
Actually, the park entrance is right before the curve. If you want to come 71 (maybe Jules and others...)
Merge onto I-71 S via EXIT 55 toward CINCINNATI. 69.8 mi
Take the OH-123 exit, EXIT 32, toward MORROW/LEBANON.
0.3 mi
Turn RIGHT onto S OH-123/OH-123. Continue to follow OH-123.
3.4 mi
Stay STRAIGHT to go onto W MAIN ST/OH-63. Continue to
follow OH-63.
Turn right on OH-741. This is where the other directions have you
Turning left on 741. 3.8 mi
This takes you through Lebanon. Or you could always take the Rt. 73 exit off 71 and take it straight across to 75. Turn south and go two exits down to 63 and follow Ric's directions.
Hope I'm not confusing anyone!
Yep you lost me! LOL! Just KIDDING!
Really it's VERY easy to find.
AND we will have Cell Phones to give instant directions.
Just ask Jules..... ;-)
Ric
very funny Ric
;-0
Well at least he didn't say Marcy!!! LOL!!!
I was like Jules' GPS.
I could see her car from Joyce's driveway and talked her in.... Turn left NOW! LOL!
The only reason it wasn't me getting lost is because I *just* got a GPS.
LOL on the 'way off' Ric! For some unknown reason I was thinking Grandma's Garden was on the corner of #73 and #741 instead of #48! Don't ask....lol!! And I DO know the area well...lol. I think it's called Oldtimer's!
Well growing up you traveled that area in slower 4-Hooved Vehicles.
Gave you more time to recognized the landmarks.....
Oh, Ric, that was mean!! Don't think any of us here can actually say they traveled in the horse and buggy era. I used to love to hear my mother tell of driving a horse and buggy to school. That just was so foreign sounding to me. What, did you use recess to go feed your horse? And what about cleaning up the "mess" they had to have made during the day. Did they have a person in the community come do that? Hehe, I am sure not.
My Grandmother and a few of her siblings actually road a plow horse to school in the winter.
They would pile on and then slap it home when they got there.
One of the hands would ride it back in the afternoon.
I'm guessing this was just when there was bad snow cause you can surely walk faster than they do.
I road a Mustang to school. Does that count?
Ooooooooo Rickyyyyyyyyy....u gonna pay for that one!!! Sooooooo bad!
Bet the Mustang wasn't a horse, and if that be the case, yes I can believe it!!
I'm a staying tuned and looking forward to meeting everyone.
Come on June so that we have warm weather
