2009 Lily Blooms #11

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Great photos! I think this may be the last new one to open in my garden this year. It's Gloriana from the PNWLS Spring sale. Only had one bud on it this year, but i can tell it will be wonderful in a few more years. Honey gold color with red whiskers and pollen.

'Gloriana' is adorable, isn't she?

Arena- New to me this spring, bloomed at about a foot tall. Couldn't get a good pix. Can't wait till next year, when it should be taller! She is a beauty!

So pretty mainiac! Is your 'Suzuki' possibly 'Elise'?

'Flashpoint' is a sharp one, isn't it? The color is so striking. And the Buggy's are lovely!

Probably Elise. I didn't think it was right. But it did look nice today.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Of course it is beautiful!

Some cute one I lost the tag for. Any ideas? It has a nice big, big flower.

'White Bud' a nice strong one too.

Another seedling. This time the first to bloom on a yellow henryi mix of seed from Buggy. It's sweet. It's the only one bloom I have on it.

I can see why you like Willeki Alberti - very nice.

Glorianna is great too.

Love the bright pink on Flashpoint.

Mainiac and Mags,

Such wonderful bulbs from Buggy, and Suzuki is gorgeous. The butterfly shot is lovely - I've been taking them all over the yard but I don't have your talent with a camera. And all your pinks, both of you, are beautiful.

Boy, I had a lot of catching up to do with all these breathtaking photos:)) I swore I wasn't getting more lilies, but now I can see how futile that oath was, lol! Must say that buggy's Lavender Gem made me most happy this year:)
Looking forward to more pics:))) I suppose I'm growing a wish list (again)!

Mainiac, your Time Zone is such a pretty pink! Mine is in part shade and had a lot of lavender-mauve coloring. Now that you've seen its blooms, do you think its Oriental or OT?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It's an OT, Neal. I bought mine from Mainiac.

I still think it is an oriental. For some reason I also recall maniac selling it in her oriental category. It looked quite oriental to me. I'm having a tough time chasing down any firm data though. I'm no expert, but it seems more oriental in the way the colors change as the bloom ages. Can't think of an OT that really does that.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

So sorry! My error. It is an Oriental per Faraway Flowers.

Agawam, MA(Zone 6a)

Just a note-I purchased mine from The Lily Pad as an O/T Lily. I quess they were wrong. I believe Faraway Flowers would be correct.

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, Time Zone is listed under OTs by some suppliers, and Oriental by others. Ramona's supplier listed it as Oriental, and when I ordered some for the co op in spring from Ednie, they had them listed under Orientals, but when I received the bulbs, the bag was marked OT.

I'm curious, as the shape of the bloom and smooth, waxy petal texture make me think OT. It puts me in mind of the Japanese hybrids, which are listed as Orientals, but have OT qualities. Perhaps it may be the result of some advanced breeding done with Orientals.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

From only looking at the pics I'd guess it's an OT, IMHO.

I picked up this Salmon Star at a local nursery...it is sooo cute!

Thank you for the beautiful late season views. I still have Casa Blanca and Sorbonne is on the way, but the rest of my lilies are seed grown in pots and won't bloom for a while. It's truly nice to see your beautiful flowers.

Thread 11! Is this a record? Goldfinch, I'll bet you have a few still coming up? And Leftwood - you're zone 4 too.
