2009 Lily Blooms #11

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Mags, do you know where you got Vitara? I love it!

I thought this was Casablanca, but it has faint pink edges this year - maybe due to the weird weather?

Mags and Goldfinch, just gorgeous. Sumatra is completely sold out till the fall at B&D - I can see why!

Moby, the lily is so gorgeous I didn't notice the "Junk".

Mags, I know what you mean about not being able to figure out what the best season is. Right now is fabulous because it's mostly Orientals and they are so sumptuous. And they are tricky to grow here, so when they come up, and well, it's such a treat.

Vitara came from Faraway Flowers I believe.

Moby did 'El Condor' bloom for you as deep as the pictures showed? It does look quite nice.

There is nothing quite like the oriental fragrance. It's fabulous. A treat is exactly what they are Donna.

This was the El Condor that was on the head table at the new Englnad Lily Society show

The pictures I have seen on websites show a very deep maroon color. They look pink in real pictures.

El Condor is beautiful and appears to be a big bloom, like Triumphator. Is it big?

Poland, ME

Yes, very large! Gotta have this one!

If you have a master list of people interested in lilies PLEASE enter my name for El Condor. I'm VERY pleased with the lilies you sent.

Beverly's Dream is in the process of opening today.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

'Double Vision' looks pinker in days following opening day, more like the pictures.

You must live in lily heaven, magnolialover!

We all have a little slice of it, you know. What graces our gardens is just that ;)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

El Condor is a very deep, dusky pink. B&D's site did say the color was a bit variable with sun/temp differences. Very hot the day it opened and beaten by rain that night.

In photos, it's difficult to appreciate the size of the bloom with its deep throat and reflexed petal tips. The bud was a fat 7"

Moby, I remember last year when I was lusting at El Condor in the catalog. Should have gotten it.

I guess I need to revise my statement that I can't grow asiatics. Here is my Landini. The pic didn't capture the darkness of it. It is a stunning one. This is one I got from B&B's summer sale and potted.

another shot, shows their dark coloration a little better

El Condor! Gasp! On my B&D list with Sumatra.

Mags, your Double Vision is a vision. Why does everything look better in your garden than the catalogs?

And Voss, congrats on your asiatics.

Thanks pirl and Donna. I have just been lucky this year. Most years things do not look like this. But I'll take it.

Flashpoint. I am impressed with this one. The pink is just so vibrant

Maniac, that is definitely Anastasia. It's my favorite lily. I have it in 3 different places in my yard. Flashpoint is gorgeous.

Mags, I particularly like Nymph and Red Baron. The only lilies that lingered as long as a month were all trumpets. I still say, you have the touch!
