2009 LILY BLOOMS #6

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Howdy Kim,

I would love to see your "Muscadet". I have some Orientals just starting to bloom but it has been so hot I am worried how well they'll do. My OT's however and Trumpets - well I have a few of each still valiantly hanging in there.

Mary, thanks for the link on the sw lilies. I will check them out.

Everyone, what wonderful lilies - so many terrific shots you have all posted I could not possibly comment on them all and how much I like them. So many ideas for next year, however, and Buggy is looking better and better with the unique specimens she carries!!

Kim, interesting you post your Tiget lilies - I have some identical ones blooming right now as well and they have really toleratd the heat well. Seems our bloom seasons are usually in sync.

Here is a whole field of Karen North, just for mags.

Wow! Neat!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Does Mags love Karen North? I love it too! Mine are about to open -- v exciting. That field of'em is glorious.

Diann, I love Starburst. What a great form it has. By the way, your foot actually looks quite petite compared to that giant lily.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

It is really more of a tribute to the late Dr. Chris North and his North hybrids. Both mags and myself and I am sure some of the others here are great fans of these lilies that were bred from L. lankongense (hence the turk cap form and fine lines marking the petals).

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Awwww, shucks you guys are too kind. 'Karen North' is beautiful both in the west and the midwest. Remember how I thought I could have a whole field of 'Tiger Babies', well 'Karen North ' would have her own acreage across the street, so you could drive by and have both fields there to overwhelm you.

You guys are great. And so are all of your lilies ;)

Georgeous lilies everyone! I'm really enjoying the show.

Thanks for the info jmorth.

Have an Oriental Lily (I think cause the way the blooms are facing...not up but out/down) It opened today..before all but 3 of my Asiatics....Would be very early for an oriental here...
Don't know it's name as I bought 3 different lilies that year and it was suppose to be Asiatic Lily Stones
and I don't think it is....
Any one have an Idea what it could be??
Thanks
Phyllis

It's an asiatic. What other lilies did you buy?

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Pisa she's yellow and Heirloom Cerneum...
Why would the flowers not be pointing up like the rest of the Asiatic's??

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

OMG, I haven’t been on this forum in more than a week and I had so much catching up to do. Each and every picture is breathtaking. Since I’m so far behind I can’t possibly type all the comments I’d like as it would take all day. Suffice it so say that I don’t know how anyone can NOT have an obsession with lilies! Such nice combos and garden shots too.

I wish you could send us some of your rain. It is soooo dry here. I have 3 hydrangeas that almost died in one day because our temps went from the high 60’s/low 70’s to high 90’s pretty much overnight – some of the leaves look like black potato chips – but I’ve been watering like crazy. Hopefully after this weekend I’ll have some pics to post. Supposed to get rain on Saturday. Yeah! Only thing I have blooming so far are a few Asiatic noids.

Here it is next to an Asiatic that's getting ready to start blooming..

Seeing lots I like. Blood Tiger may have to go on my fall buggycrazy order. This is the first year for Firestar and it's very impressive.

Orania is the big one in the front here. The big white buds on the other end of the bed look like they will pop tomorrow. Can't remember what they are.

Thanks Moby

This is a pink one someone traded to me last summer. She did not know it's name. Short. Maybe 18". About the size of Pink Pixie, but less spots than mine.

I like Desert Song so much that I have two clumps of it. This one is a ways from the house, but even fading, it is still very visible.

Oh geez. I don't even know what to comment on there are so many glorious llilies. I can see I will be buying some more lilies for this fall.

I love Blood Tiger and BuggyCrazys STARBURST. Also FIRESTARTER and that neon yellow gold of DESSERT SONG. All wonderful!

Look at the differance in color from one flower to the next and one day to the next. No wonder without markers people get mixed up. BEV

Same ones and three diff colors as they fade.

That a very good observation. Here's Stunning after it's been open for a few days. I notice the yellow edge is fading on the older flowers.

And the older Royal Sunsets here look almost beige/white, but still pretty.
