Comments regarding A Nearly Native Nursery

Nearly Native Nursery is great. I have been a customer for several years. They have an excellent selection of very interesting plants. Every plant I have purchased from them has done great. Jim and Debi really know about plants. They spend a lot of time with you to make sure you are getting a plant that is right for your needs.

Worked with Debi to find a Chalk Maple - wanted this specific variety and they were the only Georgia nursery who had them - next closest were in Nashville. Debi showed me four specimens and recommended one - bought and planted in January - as of now, it is bursting out all over - very happy little tree. I will definitely be back...

Beautiful, vigorous plants. Carefully packaged. A great source for plants for my butterfly garden.

I am lucky enough to live near this nursery. The owners are great to help with perfect plant selection. They have also helped me identify those odd volunteers that creep up from time to time. The birds are fabulous to visit as well! I love this place and visit as often as I can!

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some bare-root spicebush seedlings. They arrived as promised, well packaged and in great shape. Dealing with the folks and especially Debbie at Daves Garden was a pleasure. "Tschuess!! I'll be back - Daves Garden is already book marked.

My plants arrived very healthy and undamaged. Jim and Debi are very knowledgeable and friendly. Since their selection of plants and their prices are second to none, I plan to order again.

I recently ordered three plants from Nearly Native Nursery. I was completely satisfied with the helpfulness and responsiveness of the staff, as well as the quality of the plant material that was shipped to me.

I would recommend these folks highly and hope to do business with them again...

All my plants arrived in a very healthy state and are currently happily growing. I am very happy with my order and will order again from Nearly Native!

This was my first order from these folks, and if the rest of the world were as accessible and helpfully friendly as they are, then Life would really be Good.

Great experience. Personal phone contact in the Fall and this Spring very helpful in getting the right size of a hard to find plant at local nurseries- Kalmia Latifolia, mountain laurel. Packing of gallon plants (3 of them!) for shipment was superb. Very timely delivery.

I very much enjoyed my two recent visits to Nearly Native Nursery. The owners are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. It is such a welcome relief to find a great place like this to buy plants.

Great plants! Even though ordered late for coastal Georgia, they are doing great. I am sure I will order more.

I was finally able to visit these guys last week. What a treat! Jim was very informative and personable, after talking to him you really feel confident that whatever you buy is going to thrive in your yard. These two really know their stuff. Great tour of the gardens, great plants, lots of useful detail, great website. Bought a couple of very healthy native plants. Thank you Jim for all of your time helping me with a game plan for my backyard!

I went to Nearly Native Nursery's web site, //nearlynativenursery.com, and obtained pricing information and an order form. I had the order in the mail in time for the 5 P.M. pickup Saturday, 11-27-2010. I then went to Nearly Native Nursery's web site and sent them a message to save a chalk maple tree for me, since the order was in the mail. The tree was picked up by UPS at 6 PM on Wednesday, 12-1-2010, from Peachtree City, GA. It was delivered to my home at 4 PM Friday, 12-3-2010. The tree was planted before 1:30 PM on Saturday, 12-4-2010. Less than a week, by hours, from the time the order was mailed from the New Orleans area until the tree was in the ground. WOW! The tree was in excellent condition when it arrived.

I recieved two Chickasaw plum trees last fall. They were packed so well it took me 30 minutes each to unwrap to where I could plant them. In good shape with strong looking trunks. Just started to sprout last week which is why I waited to comment. I'm excited

Our visit was great and we appreciated the time everyone took to help us find plants that would fit our conditions. These people really enjoy what they do and it shows in their ability to relate to customers. We'll certainly be back.

We had a wonderful experience!!! It is a beautiful nursery and everyone was extremely helpful. We spent most of the morning looking at plants and getting helpful sugesstions for our shade garden. We plan to go back often and will tell our gardening friends about Neary Native Nursery.

I called Jim Rogers at A Nearly Native Nursery today just for information. Even though I wasn't placing an order at this time, he stopped what he was doing to spend almost 15 minutes talking to me about the care of hardy palms in my area (Eastern Shore of MD). I am a designer and plan to use more hardy palms, as there are a lot of waterside residences and business that are interested in the tropical look. Jim and his nursery are a wealth of information and, from what I've read here, excellent plants. Thanks Jim!!! We'll be talking again!

I first learned about these guys while searching Daves Garden for native plants. I've been haunting their website all summer, waiting for fall to arrive so I could plant more trees/shrubs. Today, I made the 50+ mile trek (one way!) from Holly Springs to Fayetteville. I spent probably $50 more than I intended to, but I am totally jazzed about my purchases and can't wait for the rain to stop so I can get them in the ground.

These guys don't mess around. They know their stuff, they're friendly & helpful, and I got there on a non-busy Saturday (amazing!), so they were able to give me undivided attention and listen to all my gardening dreams. From what I can tell, their prices are comparable to the big box stores, but they have a MUCH better selection, and the added plus of mostly native plants, so I know they'll do well in my yard.

Honestly, the only negative thing I can think of is that Fayetteville is nowhere near Holly Springs. That said, they're *well* worth the trip. If you're in the area, treat yourself to a visit there. And don't forget to say hi to the Macaw.

My husband and I visited before the holidays. We didn't purchase anything, but came away with tons of information and inspiration. We will be back. It is a wonderful place. We can't wait for spring to arrive.

They have a great variety of healthy native plants, many of which are not widely available in the nursery trade. The owners are friendly and patient and very knowledgeable and helpful. I definitely plan to be a repeat customer.

It's been a wonderful experience. Nearly Native Nursery worked hard for nearly a year to get me exactly the plant I was looking for. It arrived in perfect shape and I planted it today. I couldn't be more pleased.

Very helpful. I've ordered only trees from them (mostly oaks) which have been in excellent condition and perform much, much better than anything I've ordered from other sources. Plus, they are very quick to respond to questions.

A++. I ordered because they're the company with native crabapples. On the phone I was not rushed and all my questions were answered politely. The packaging and instructions were very thorough. A week later when I inquired as to the health of my plant, I was instructed as to what to check; how to perform the check; and that it there were a problem, I would be sent another crabapple, free of charge. I followed the instructions and my crabapple is fine. I'll be ordering again. Great service!

I received my first order from this company last week. They were very knowledgable and friendly on the phone, and the plants arrived in great shape with an excellent job of packing. They have a great selection of hard to find natives, and I will definitely order from them again.

I just received my Chalk Bark Maple from Nearly Native Nursery, and have nothing but glowing reviews for them. They were so helpful on the phone, and even went out to look at the size and shape of the tree so they could describe it to me accurately. It was packed very well and in wonderful shape when I received it. I planted it this weekend and am looking forward to enjoying it for many years. Great nursery with a lot of unique selections, wonderful customer service, prompt shipping and careful packing. What more could you ask for? :)

Plants were extremely well packaged and arrived in excellent shape -- soil nicely moist, leaves undamaged, root ball undamaged. I'm very happy with the selection available to me, the good price, and the excellent communication.

We mail ordered plants last spring and were very pleased with the experience. When I couldn't find a plant locally, I found it on their website. We stopped this week at their nursery when we were in the area and found many plants that we are excited to try. Jim was very good at helping us chose plants for our soil, water, shade, and slope conditions. We had a great time seeing the plants in containers as well as in the ground after a few years of growth. We have had two positive experiences with this nursery. We will use their services again.

Excellent service and plant selection. I was able to order several plants that I had not found elsewhere. The telephone conversations were very helpful and I received very healthy plants, packaged very well, when they were expected. Thank you very much. I will be back.

I purchased two osmanthus americanus (Devil's wood), which is a very difficult plant to find, from Nearly Native. The plants were nice size for the price and arrived healthy. Nearly Native sent the plants exactly when I asked them to. Communication was great, too: they sent an email a week before shipping to confirm the order and then they sent the UPS tracking number to me when the order shipped. I recommend this company.

Very positive first experience purchasing from this nursery. Customer service was great over the phone - very knowledgable and helpful. I ordered two native magnolias and they arrived two days after I placed my order looking amazing. The packing was superb. I will order again from them.

I looked at the Nearly Native Nursery catalog and saw the plants I was looking for were at the nursery, so I took a drive up there. It was worth the trip. I enjoyed talking to Jim and looking around the nursery. I even found some plants I will get on my next visit.

I can't attest to mail order plants because I am lucky enough to live about two miles down the road from Nearly Native. I can tell you the owners are very nice people with very nice plants. Jim will talk to you as long as you want about any plant you want to talk about. Comparing them to other nurseries in the area I can honestly say their prices are lower (sometimes even when their plants are bigger than the competitors) about 99.9% of the time.

After learning about A Nearly Native Nursery on davesgarden.com, we drove 200 miles to visit it. Jim Rodgers greeted us and gave us an informative tour. He and Debi are interested in conservation of rare plants and protection of the local fauna. There were butterflies, hummingbirds & a talking parrot outdoors - and even a few caged reptiles inside. We plan to return there this Fall.

Last week I lost three mature oaks to a passing storm. Today Jim and Debi helped me find plants to fill in some of the empty spaces so some of the lost backyard habitat can begin to recover. They looked at my list of possible plants and added suggestions to what I had thought of, and patiently showed them to me. I purchased hawthornes, azaleas and dogwood. At the peak of a Georgia July, their stock was healthy and beautiful!

Jim also walked around the nursery with me for over an hour so that I could see examples of native trees I can use to replant in the fall. He really listened to what I want to accomplish in the garden and gave excellent advice. I will be ordering the trees this November from this nursery.

The biggest, healthiest plants I've ever received through the mail. Packaged with extraordinary care. First rate.

I made my first order with Nearly Native Nursery last week. The order was filled promptly and I was notified about problems shipping plants in the summer months and was given the option of not filling the order. I went ahead. The plants arrived in good condition and appear to be doing well in my garden. I was impressed with how well they were packed. Much better than other mail order nurseries. There are many rare SE US natives in their catalogue that are not available. I will be following the website because there are a number of species I would like to get. I will certainly order from them again. RM
