Comments regarding Park Seed Company (aka Park's Gardens)

I ordered a number of seed packets from Park Seed last year that all had problems with germination. Clove Drops Carnation had an 8% germination rate, Ring of Fire Sunflowers had 0% (yes, zero) germination and Supersweet 100 cherry Tomatoes had about 25% germination. I've been growing most of my garden from seed for a number of years now and have never had this problem before. All the other seeds that I purchased from other companies at the same time had normal germination rates.

Just got my first order from this company. I ordered five plants and they were in shipping wayyyyyyyy too long. (6 days) When they came however, they were in fine condition. I was extremely pleased! I was afraid they would all be dead.

Parks is excellent! Not only do they ship really quickly but their customer service is very helpful. I've ordered from them for a few years now and have always had very good success and a high germination rate from their seeds.

The seeds and plant I ordered were shipped promptly and in great condition. I am very satisfied with my experience with Parks!

I'm rating Park as a whole, because I don't like the fact that they have all these affiliates such that you can't order plants from Park and Park's Countryside Gardens without getting hit with 2 separate shipping charges. I have no complaints about their seed. It's the plants. I place orders for a dozen small display gardens and I cringe when they come to me with requests they found in Park or Wayside catalogues. I try to find the plants elsewhere but occasionally that's not possible. So this year's order arrived with 2 out of 3 Phlox, dead, with the 3rd well on its way. They are very happy to send you a refund, but you're stuck with no plant.

Plants OK, but not great. Would probably not use them again as other suppliers are either cheaper for the same quality or better for the same price.

Our business has purchased seed from Parks since the early 1960's. We have never been disappointed with the service. Our service rep Donna has gone out of her way to make sure that we are taken care of. We enjoy the hospitality of their Growers Day. Just a great company to deal with

I had good luck with this company but I only ordered seed. The order was sent promptly and was correct. Perhaps the best idea is to order only bulbs and seeds by mail order and buy rooted plants from local nurseries.

I have ordered from this company numerous times, always receiving my order in good time, and had high seed germination, except for 2001. Until reading other comments, I assumed my poor seed germination rate (from all company sources) last year to be a different cause. Now I am not so sure...

Anyway, my seed-starting mixture was infested with multi-colored asian lady beetles (MALB) that were dead or hibernating in the mix. I assumed that was the cause of my poor germination. Anybody else have comments?

The quality of seeds from Park this year is high; very good germination rates. I did not complain to the company about last year's problems, have not complained to them about anything. Queries by phone and e-mail are always promptly answered, even about things they don't advertise. Very friendly and helpful customer service.

They have a great selection of unusual varieties of plants for people who can find most common varieties of annuals and perennials locally supplied.

This started as a "neutral" but after re-reading it, I changed it to "positive". I highly recommend them.

I've ordered from them a number of times and have always been happy with their products (mostly seed orders). They have a great selection and wonderful summary information on each plant. I will definitely be ordering from them again.

I just got my shipment from Park Seeds and I must say I am impressed by the livliness of the plants, none were wilted or dieing. I had a great germination of the seeds I got earlier in the year. I would definately buy from them again.

This is the second time I have ordered the infamous "shell" corkscrew vine and have received a "dead" stick. I have nobody to blame but myself as I never send anything back but this time in addition I ordered the Tree rose, which was to have a rosetree top and roses at the base in a lovely pot. Well, I got the tree rose, a trunk with bare roots, no pot and no other roses for the base! Last time for me with Park Seed! Wasted enough money there to enroll 10 more people to DG!

So far, I haven't had too much luck with their seeds... germination rates were very poor. But I'm a beginner at gardening and probably did something wrong. I sent them a couple of emails asking questions and they always responded very quickly and in great detail.
Their online catalogue is great, they have a secure online ordering server, deliveries are fast and reliable.

Getting nervous. I received the blueberry bushes that I ordered and they look great, but my coreopsis shipped nine days ago and I still haven't received that shipment. I live less than two hours from Park Seed, so it's obviously lost in transit. However, they won't replace them until it has been a full two weeks. Meanwhile, they have my money. Also, my chocolate cosmos looks rotted, but I have read they can be slow to come back in the spring.

I ordered sweet pepper seeds online less than a week ago. They arrived today (FAST). The order was correct, well-packaged and loading with planting information..tips...etc. I give them a thumbs up.

I ordered a mix of 5 tree peonies from Park at $12.95 each. Anyone who knows about tree peonies will tell you that if the plants are in good shape even though they are not named varieties, this is a steal. It's a steal.

The best packaged plants I have ever seen. I had to get major equipment out to open up the box and then had to do the same thing for each individual plant as they were completely encased in cardboard inside the shipping box and all the air space was filled with foam peanuts. I don't impress easily - I'm seriously impressed. Will definitely do business with them again.

Just plain over-rated. period.

This is my second year ordering seeds from Parks. Got my order within the week. Have no reason not to trust them so far. Like the catalog,with lots of pictures and informative descriptions.

I ordered a small avocado tree in March '01. I was told that it would ship at the end of April. Then it was back ordered until June. After not hearing anything from them, I contacted them, and the rep stated that due to a poor shipment, they wouldn't be ready until October. Again, after not hearing from them, I contacted them again and was told that they just started shipping, Well, in four days, I received a dead stick which was the graft of this "special avocado" on a regular sprouting avocado pit. There was no possible was that this grafted piece could have been alive when it was shipped. I was refunded the purchase price (minus shipping) because they stated that they no longer carried it. I then requested that it be sent from their Wayside Gardens company(who is still selling it) and was refused (twice). I will not purchase from them or any of their other companies again!

I have ordered from Park since the early '80's and as yet not had a bad experience with either their phone reps. or the quality (viability) of the seed I have recieved.

I have (had) been a Parks customer for years. However last year's order was a big disappointment. The viability of nearly all of the seed was unacceptably low. I am a very experienced seed starter, so I don't think the fault was mine. To their credit they promptly replaced the 'bad' seeds, but the second batch still exhibited very low viability. Life is too short. In the future I will order elsewhere.

I recently ordered a seed starter kit from them. It was reasonably priced and shipped fairly quickly. I was pleased with the turn around as well as the product. I haven't ordered any seed from them, though, so I can't comment on that.

I have been a Park customer for 11 years and have had very good success with their seeds. They have a wide variety to choose from and their prices and shipping are reasonable. The orders I have placed with them have always been received in a timely manner. I also catalog shop from other seed companies for varieties I cannot find in the Park catalog, but Park is by far my favorite for overall seed shopping and I place the bulk of my seed orders with them.

I have ordered seed twice and both times I have been dissappointed with both the quantity of seed and performance for the cost. I prefer to shop elsewhere.

Have ordered most of my seeds from them and have had good results, have not tried to order plants from them; as the cost seems a bit high.

The seed packets are very high quality - foil with vacuum packing. Parks has many interesting varieties. Shipment is prompt and the packaging is good. The Internet site for ordering is secure and easy to use.

They are a good company. They have taken care of any problems that I had with their seeds.

I HAVE HAD GOOD SERVICE FROM THEM. BOUGHT CLEMENTIS FROM THEM AND THERE BEAUTIFUL. ANYTHING THAT DIDN'T LOOK GOOD THEY REPLACED AND WERE FINE.

I've been very pleased with all seeds that I've ordered from Park's. Service was good and I've no complaints on the quality of the merchandise.I'm a repeat customer of several years .Although I haven't used them in a while,it's not because of any bad experience,I've just developed other intrests.

A good comapny. I think they're more expensive than some but I've never been unhappy with their products or service.

Park's is excellent in every way. I bought seeds and supplies from them when I had a small greenhouse business. They are very friendly and helpful to deal with. Since then I have bought seeds retail. Never have had any problems, always reliable.

Parks has been a good source for me for seeds over the years, I don't use them every year.

Service is good, and have not had any problems with them.
