Comments regarding Digging Dog Nursery

We ordered a half-dozen bergenia Bressingham White last fall. Not only did they arrive in tip-top shape, but they also are thriving this spring.

I place an order for 3 Salivia's and 2 Astrantia's last month. After receiving my order, they informed me that one of the Astrantia's would not be up and ready for shipping for another 2 weeks. They asked me if I wanted them to ship the partial shipment or wait for the whole shipment. I told them to wait until the Astrantia was ready and ship them all at the same time. When they gave me the date of shipment, I was not going to be here to accept the box, and asked them to ship the following week. They were very helpful and waited for another week.
The plants arrived in wonderful condition and I was amazed at the root system of all the plants.
I was very happy with my order and the communication that we had. I will order from them again.

I ordered two clematis and three acer griseum from digging dog online. The clematis came well packed and heathly, however the acer griseum were sold out. I was not notified of this until I received an invoice with the shipped clematis, about six weeks after my order. As these tree's are only carried by a small handful of nurseries, by the time I knew about this I was not able to order them from another source. While I received an e-mail confirmation of my order, again they did not indicate that the acer griseum were unavailable.

out than usual. Sometimes root development is beyond our control and we refuse to send plants that are not well-established. Please note that in our comments to mathewpok we wrote "We are sorry but the Acer griseum won't be ready to ship until the end of May. Please re-order at that time. I ordered three Kniphofias and a Salvia a little over a week ago, and received them today. E-mail response to my web order was prompt and provided all the information I needed. The Kniphofias are nice, healthy, generous divisions. The Salvia is a little smaller, but still good value for the price and very healthy.

As a customer of many years' standing, long before online gardening was even possible, I can testify that the plants from Digging Dog have been consistently healthy and hardy through the years. They are also the biggest plants I've ever received by mail. Enormous root systems!

They always have a few varieties that I never see on anyone else's site. The lack of photos on the Website is a drawback, although they do have beautiful drawings of some plants, and anyone interested can always do a google image search to find photos of the plants that sound intriguing.

I recommend this nursery highly.

Surfing the web for a special plant, I chanced on DDN. I thought that any nursery that could create an Egyptian Gothic out of Anubis must have some pretty cool things going for it. i was right, and my first order was a pleasure. Well packed, healthy plants and extremely appealing people on the other side of the screen. I look forward to placing my next order and to raiding their garden on some future foray. I had a very good experience with digging dog. I ordered online and called to confirm they are very nice and helpful. the plants came very well packed and very healthy. They went straight in the ground and I can't wait to see what they do in the spring.

I was extremely pleased with the Salvias I purchased. All had good top growth - healthy green leaves. They were packaged well and arrived soon after my order with a note prior from them as to the date they were shipped so I knew when to expect them. Their prices are very good also.They had the hard to find varities I was looking for. A very pleasant experience. Definitely will recommend them to folks at the gardening sites i visit.

Ordered 3 Cotinus 'Grace' 3 mo. ago. Got 3 nicely packed 12", well rooted, clean and budded branches that are almost 3 feet tall now with side branches. (ALL 3 Just beautiful!) Great people! I would not hesitate to order from them again.

Prompt shipping. All plants had very full root systems and looked very healthy. I'll do business with them again.

Great to deal with. Ordered plants that I could not find currently at other retailers. Good healthy plants that were packaged well. Good prices for the size and quality of the plants. I had requested that they delay shipping for a week while we were gone and they did. (This may not seem like a big deal, but many companies seem to ignore these requests). Definitely worth ordering from again.

I ordered a hard to find vine (schizophragma rosea) and was most impressed with the plant sent and the way it was packed. The beautiful, healthy vine came on a 1 ft bamboo stake, so I could immediately see how it's going to look trailing my oak tree. Before buying, I spoke with 2 different staff members and both were knowledgeable and helpful. Plant prices are good (especially since they seem to carry so many hard to find plants). At first I thought shipping charges were a little steep, but after seeing what I received, I am satisfied it was money well spent. I will definitely do business with them again. I only wish their catalog was w/full color photos.

Very beautiful and healthy plants. Very unusual and rare products that are priced well. Love the company and plan to use them again. Only recommendation is that they should identify the plants. Some arrived without markers, but I could easily identify them from the attached order form.

This company has an excellent selection and a wide variety of reasonably priced plants I have been unable to locate elsewhere. They responded promptly in acknowledging my order, gave specific shipping info., packaged the plants carefully and sent them on time as specified. The plants arrived healthy, and were comparatively larger than plants I've ordered from other resources.

Service is prompt. Plants are healthy and affordable. Catalogs are fun and even arrive when I have not ordered for a while. Green thumbs up.

I emailed Digging Dog Nursery 9 days ago and then sent a second email. However, I can't seem to get a response. I would love to buy plants from them if I could ever get in touch with them.

If they don't wish to deal with customer questions by email, then perhaps they could post a disclaimer saying this or a note indicating they will respond to emails within a month or two.

Excellent is the word to describe Digging Dog Nursery. Great web site, and healthy robust plants that arrive quickly at a reasonable price. I'll be back.

The plants arrived in great condition and are very healthy and larger than I had expected. The catalog is very informative and well-written and contains many hard-to-find varieties. I will definitely order again.

I ordered a few things from Digging Dog July 2003: Clematis 'rubromarginata', Aster 'Monch', and Digitalis ferruginea. I was pleased with them in a number of ways: first, they carry some of the harder-to-find plants (yea! I finally found Digitalis ferruginea!); second, they are very fast with their mailing; third, their packing is excellent; and last, but not least, their plants are well rooted, large, and healthy. I will try to use them often.

Great service, beautiful Alstroemeria plants. Great variety and all plants arrived healthy and ALL bloomed within 1 month! Incredible. I will be ordering from Digging Dog again soon and recommend them to my fellow gardners!

I ordered from this company in July of last year, as I was preparing a memorial garden for my cat and wanted some interesting catnips, of which they had a huge selection. Part of the reason I ordered from them was that they were shipping at that time of year, which I knew was a risk. I was very pleased with the order--despite the our hot summer, the plants did very well. I just placed another order with them for tons of plants--they have lots of interesting cultivars others don't offer.

The woman I spoke to was very helpful with helping me narrow down plant choices for my needs. My order was then shipped very promptly and was very well packaged. Everything is in the ground and now I'm just waiting for the last two plants to sprout. Good experience overall.

This was the only place I was able to locate Orchid Ginger (Roscoea purpurea). They sent a HUGE clump which flowered its first season!

The plants I ordered from Digging Dog were well-rooted, by and large, and healthy, and most of them died on me — which gives you some idea how tough it is to ease plants from other parts of the country into my Northern New Mexico climate. But the fault was mine, not Digging Dog's. I would order from them again, you betcha.

Fast service, reasonable prices on hard to find perennials.Plants are well established and packaged very well. I will surely be a Digging Dog customer again....
