Comments regarding Colorblends (Schipper & Co. USA)

Ordered about 850 bulbs from them in 2005, 100 of which I gave to the garden at work. Absolutely fantastic in size and quality! Bloomed as promised per the catalog pictures. Many, many compliments. Well packed, delivered on time, came with cute porcelain "wooden shoe" magnet.

Repeated my order for 2006 - not so many this time! Again, excellent size and quality bulbs. Waiting to see how they bloom this year.

After reading all the positive posts here about ColorBlends.com, as well as the GardenWeb forums, I felt quite comfortable ordering from this vendor. I am extremely pleased to report that my first order from ColorBlends.com was an enjoyable, smooth, and overall excellent buying experience. Their web site is well organized and intuitive. When I called their toll-free number with questions, I spoke with a kind gentleman named Andre ~ who was polite, friendly, and helpful. Once ordered, my bulbs shipped the following day via UPS Ground and arrived the next ~ talk about efficiency! Their superb professional packing in strong, durable ventilated boxes (each strapped for added security) ensured my bulbs arrived safe and secure. ColorBlends' bulbs are vastly superior to anything I had examined at my local retail sources ~ and for substantially less cost (including their reasonable shipping costs, no less!) ~ now I know what bulbs are supposed to look like! They are clearly top shelf with their generous size and fresh, healthy appearance!! I ordered 1,900 bulbs (1,000 Starflower + Spanish Bluebells, Grape Hyacinth Blue Muscari, Tarda, Linifolia, & Clusiana Lady Jane). Each box contained clear planting instructions, a gorgeous catalog, my purchase invoice, and a bonus gift (a lovely wooden tulip in a vase). This is the third time I've ordered from Colorblends, and all I can say is they're the best! I purchased 100 Sultans of Spring and I gotta tell you those were the MOST beautiful tulips I have ever seen. I had so many complements on my yard. Sultans of Spring are a mix of tulips that have Peach and yellow mixed into the petals. They are one of the tallest varieties that I have grown.

I will purchase ALL of my bulbs from them in the future. Great quality and fast shipping. A+++

After many years of planting bulbs, I have finally discovered the source I will use from now to forever - COLORBLENDS.

The daffodils were wonderful and long lasting.The 'Rainbow Coalition' tulips were magnificent - not only were the colors vibrant and beautifully blended, they stood up straight and tall for more than three weeks through one of our rainiest California winters last year. What a delight.

Colorblends has top-quality bulbs! I ordered a few hundred tulip bulbs last fall. They have all bloomed and the only way I could be happier would be if I had ordered twice as many. People walking or driving by have stopped to thank me. I am already planning my purchases for this fall.

I love the daffs and crocus I bought from Colorblends last fall. The bulbs looked healthy, but I wanted to wait until they grew this spring to rate them. They are so lovely! So nice to see such bright color so early in the spring. Vivid colors and strong healthy blooms. They even gave me advice via e-mail on planting my bulbs. I called and added to my order before it was shipped and customer service was wonderful. Very satisfied with everything about this company.

Imagine sending someone to the market with instructions to purchase 300 pearl onions and having them return instead with 300 standard sized onions. This is somewhat analogous to the size I expected when placing my order, and what actually arrived in ten days from Colorblends.

Ordered over the course of early autumn 2005 a lot of bulbs. Okay, 1800 of them, many daffodils, alliums, squill, camassia, snake's head, crocuses... The bulbs were nearly all perfect, juicy, big, luscious. Of the 1800 I think there might have been one or two that I thought, well, maybe, maybe not. Not a single poor quality one in the lot. The first batch I ordered were so gorgeous that I called and ordered more. The guys on the phone actually remembered my previous order. They were always so amazingly pleasant and helpful and the orders came quickly and without a hitch and were beautifully packed. Absolutely amazing company. I wish I could run a business like this!
I am forcing some of the bulbs now and the daffs that are coming up aren't blooming yet but they look as healthy as can be, strong growth and all of them vigorous.

I have nothing but good to say about this company, Colorblends. I have had bad experieces with other bulb companies, but these people are great.

Had an excellent experience with Colorblends: really huge, healthy bulbs, delivered iin great condition exactly when I wanted them. I very much appreciated the drop-down menu in the ordering process to let the customer pick a date for delivery--this is something other vendors looking to improve their sites really should consider adding.

I've just placed my second order with these folks for paperwhites and amaryllis bulbs. They look MUCH better than those you see available in stores. Service is fast and phone clerks are knowledgeable and polite. Add this one to your top 30!

I am a first-time customer of Colorblends and ordered the Mount Everest and the Schubertii alium bulbs. Both are hugh and look like I'll be having some beautiful flowers in the Spring. The service was great and so was the packaging. I hope to be a repeat customer from now on.

I cannot say enough about colorblends.com. i ordered 200 tulip bulbs (melony day) in 2004 and had neighbors knocking on my door daily to ask who was the landscaping company that planted my tulips. nobody could believe that a non-professional could purchase tulips of such amazing quality. once the bulbs were delivered (at the optimal planting time for my zone) i was amazed at the quality of the bulbs. THEY WERE GIANT...so imagine what the blooms were like. i had blooms that were the size of extra large wine goblets. they were so amazing i have ordered from colorblends.com again, this time upping the order to 1000 bulbs. call me crazy because i will be planting them all myself but the end result is so breathtaking and such a pleasure for the entire neighborhood that i could not resist. if you are in the market for bulbs, i would look no further. colorblends is the best there is.

I have an order in again this fall and, since my DIL wanted to share with me, there were several corrections and add-ons to my original order. Every time I called customer service to make a change or add-on, they were very helpful and courteous. An updated email of my order was sent to me immediately after each change/add-on. Exceptional customer service.

I work on a private golf course and the contentment of the membership is my number one priority. My second priority is that the front gate and the center circle look fantastic for Easter, which is a big to-do here. Every year, for nine years, I order from Colorblends, and every year I am rewarded with a spectacular display of color and texture. I also like ordering from them over the phone as opposed to the internet because the people are so very nice. They really care what I think and want to know how my gardens looked. This is the first year I have ordered anything besides tulips so I will post a follow-up so everyone else knows how the Helleborus does. Highly recommended.

I planted the 'Strike Me Pink' tulip combination and the neighbors and people driving by always stop to look at the spectacular show!!!!. In fact one neighbor asked what my secret was that the tulips have been blooming full blast for 3 weeks + without any sign of wilting or discoloration. They seemed like they took forever to open..but wow ..they were worth waiting for and have exceeded my expectations. Colorblends came through for me and since I've tested and proven them in my own yard...I'll now trust to use them in my customers yards. As a Garden/Landscape designer I won't use what I can't prove...I'll use them again and again and I've already recommended their bulbs to lot's of other discerning gardeners.

I made my first purchase last fall, and I'm amazed at the results. I've always liked the performance of my bulbs from Brent and Becky's, but Schipper's bulbs leave them in the dust. The Hawera I got from him put up literally twice the number of flower stems as my other Hawera, and his combinations bloom together exactly as promised.

I have only great things to say about Colorblends. I am a repeat customer and this will be my 4th season ordering from them. The last three years, I have ordered over 600 bulbs.

In fall 2002 we moved into a brand new home with barely even grass, so I wanted something colorful coming up in the spring garden.

Coming from an apartment, I am a bulb novice, so the first order I placed over the phone with a very helpful customer service person (an art lost in the days of the internet). Subsequent orders have been done online in advance of the fall and were easy to do.

When I've had questions about planting, pests and orders, I have called and talked to Tim or Chris (Schipper) who have been very accomodating, knowledgable and helpful. Thanks guys!

Bulbs arrived each time in good shape, fat and healthy, and on time. Blooms on most all of them have been spectacular. In their 3rd season, the crocuses, tulips and allium, planted in a multi tiered bed, continue to come up.

My only disappointment were the Red Hyacinth. They never took off. Perhaps they were planted too deeply. Not sure.

If you have your heart set on a popular bulb or combination, order EARLY as they do sell out. They won't charge you til shipping time.

As for me:

I have nearly all of their Amaryllis bulbs which I plant in pots for winter and spring blooms indoors. They are awesome. Plant early enough for great results. Honestly, I forgot about them this winter--planted them in March and I still have great blooms now into May.

I have Tulips: Best Purple (under a European Red Beech tree), Stop the Car, Celebration (a truly amazing display!), Chiquita Bordeaux, Purple O'Hara

Daffodils: Delibes
Grape Hyacinth-Blue Muscari (planted with the daffodils)
Crocus: Razzle Dazzle
Alliums (my favorite!): Globemaster, Gladiator, Drumsticks (Sphaerocephalon)

I expand the Allium collection each year. This year I'll order white ones to go along with the purple.

I'll probably order more daffodils, as the bunnies and deer have now discovered the tulips and helped themselves to the buffet!

I ordered Best Yellow, Stop the Car tulips, muscari and Pipit daffodils last year. The early spring show was beautiful. This year I have already ordered Daffodil 100 and more muscari. I am another very satisfied Colorblends customer!!! Thanks guys!

I ordered a muscari and daffodil mix from Colorblends in the summer of 2004. It was delivered at the exact proper time for planting in my area and I was very pleased with the size and condition of the bulbs. They were just beautiful to look at in bulb form, and I had high hopes that the end result would be as lovely. The mix is now blooming happily outside my window and is just stunning. The colors are an exciting mix of electric blue and bright, sunny yellow and they set one another off perfectly. Many of the daffodils have multiple blooms per bulb, and ALL of the bulbs have bloomed...not a single one missing. I am delighted with all my contacts with this company, and will be ordering again for fall 2005 planting. I am also going to recommend their fund-raising plan to my local Garden Club.

If there is a company that epitimizes excellence in Spring bulbs, Colorblends is it.

In Fall 2004, I ordered roughly 250 tulip, 50 hyacinth, 50 daffadil bulbs from Colorblends. When the bulbs arrived they were neatly and carefully packed in meshed onion bags. The bulbs themselves were huge and all of the same size...huge. Cost was very reasonable.

Currently, in Minnesota we are in the later stages of winter and my family anxiously awaits tulip weather to see the results of our Colorblends bulbs.

I will try to comment on these results in the Spring.

But at this point, the word that comes to mind to sum up Colorblends is OUTSTANDING.

This is the ONLY place for great spring bulbs! Far superior to any other I have encountered. First ordered from Colorblends to have tulips for a daughter's wedding - HUGE bulbs, beautifully packed, and the company's advice about how to plant them (in large drifts) made them so effective. Since then I and my three daughters have all ordered from Colorblends and don't even consider any other spring bulb suppliers. Never a disappointment. This spring I am looking forward to seeing the "wild tulips" I ordered and planted last fall.

I ordered 6 varieties of bulbs from Colorblends, including the Daffodil 100, an assortment of 100 kinds of daffodils. I emailed the company to see if I could change my order before they shipped. Tim emailed me back right away, and kindly changed my order. They arrived right on time, and the bulbs were HUGE and very good quality. They were packed in a great crate to protect them. I have just ordered a gift certificate from them for my aunt, and will definitely be ordering again. I would highly recommend Colorblends to anyone.

When I found Colorblends on this site I couldn't believe that anyone could order at wholesale prices. I almost didn't order because the prices were so low!! All the comments were positive so I called the company to ask a couple of questions. I was immediately able to talk to a real human being who was not only very polite, but also very knowledgeable. I placed a large order (for me) and did not receive an e-mail confirmation as I was told I would. I e-mailed them and received a prompt reply. I shared the order order with my daughters because you must order at least 25 bulbs--sometimes 100! I, of course haven't received the bulbs yet, but I will update this comment at that time. I just wanted people to know that this appears to be a very good company with great prices.

I bought from Colorblends a few years ago, and I'm getting ready to place an order with them again. Their bulbs are GREAT! Huge in size, packaging superb. All around great company! Don't hesistate to buy from them.

I ordered 100 "coralation" tulips (coral & pink) & 50 tahiti daffodils last fall. The order arrived and I was stunned by the size of the bulbs. They were huge. I planted them and they all came up.

The tahiti daffodils are very unique and pretty. The tulips are outrageous, absolutely fabulous!!! 4 of our
neighbors and about 1/2 the little girls on the block
have complimented me on them. Evenyone wants to know where I got them. My Mom thought I came up with the brilliant combination on my own but I had to tell her they came from Colorblends! They've got all sorts of mixes to choose from and they are very reasonably priced.

If only I could keep my yellow lab away from them! She's plowed into them a few times while retrieving the frisbee. The majority are still standing!

Colorblends rocks! The bulbs are huge, beautiful and best of all - they mix them for you so there is no second-guessing whether your different varieties will bloom at the same time. I've ordered from them two years and I get oohs and ahhs from my garden club all during May. Unfortunately they didn't carry my favorite blend this year. When I called to ask why they said they didn't feel that one of the colors in that blend was up to their standards this year. Though sad I couldn't get my bulbs, I'm glad they care that they send only top quality bulbs to their customers.
