I have mixed feelings about DutchGrown. I love their website design and (unlike other reviewers) have had good luck with being able to reach customer service in the event of issues. They were apologetic and swiftly refunded me when some of the daffodils I'd ordered turned out to be mislabeled. I believe there were two daffodil varieties this past spring (from my fall 2022 order) that were mislabeled. It's always a bummer when this happens, but I appreciate when the company is responsive. The bulbs themselves were healthy and had shipped quickly. I'm signed up for "back in stock" notifications for a particular daffodil variety I've been wanting to purchase and can't find anywhere else (Can Can Girl). In the past few weeks I've gotten two "back in stock" emails for it, and I placed an order each time for it only for the orders to be canceled and refunded with no explanation within a couple of days. I imagine there's some sort of glitch with the website but it's disappointing and frustrating. So in summary, I will continue to order from them in the future if I see something I like that's not available elsewhere (having confidence that issues will be resolved fairly), but they're not my top choice company (given the bulb mislabeling and the order cancellations).

I ordered some astrantia bareroot plants from Dutch Grown. Received them very promptly, within two days of placing order. However, plants were dry and brittle, obviously dead. I was very unhappy and contacted the company by email. Within a day, I had a response and a number to call. I called and spoke with a very understanding person who had read my email and agreed that the order should not have been sent, and that she would either replace it with good product or refund my money the following day. The next day, I received a notification that my money had been refunded and a separate email from the customer service person I had spoken with who said that the sale price of the plant had been offered for clearance of this year's stock and that their remaining stock of the plant (4 plants) were not suitable for shipping and that my money had been refunded and would be returned to the card I charged it to within 7 days, which it was. I would do business with them again as they backed their product.

TLDR; Poor communication and incorrect bulbs sent. I ordered tulip and narcissus bulbs back in 2021 and it left such a bad impression I made a mental note to never buy from them again. The bulbs were shipped almost a month later than was indicated. It was 2021 though and lots of suppliers had similar issues, but it would've been nice to at least have had communication about the delays, instead of having to contact them myself. The biggest issue though was the bulbs themselves looked small and dried out, several never bloomed, and what did come up was not what I ordered. I bought Pink Champagne daffodils, but I got common yellow daffodils. I bought Black Parrot tulips and instead got random fringe tulips. Given that their bulbs were quite pricey, this is not ok, I was not happy at all.

I was really skeptical given the number of negative and neutral reviews, but my usual haunts were out of a variety of gladiolus I wanted and Dutch Grown had them available. So I gave them a shot. They arrived quickly and the corns were big and healthy-looking--more so than some of my usual places have been of late. Not at all crunchy or shedding. We'll have to see if they sprout and bloom, but so far I'm optimistic. The best-looking bulbs I've planted yet this spring.

Buyer Beware-DutchGrown shipped diseased bulbs. I ordered 250 daffodil bulbs from DutchGrown. I paid extra for the “jumbo” bulbs and also for a naturalized mixture. Bulbs were small and all were the same (yellow flowers). However what is most concerning is these bulbs (90%) were shipped by DutchGrown having a virus (Narcissus Yellow Stripe Virus). There is no excuse for this. It’s incompetence at best as any knowledgeable grower would have known before shipping. This has been a very frustrating experience as I’ve had to dig up all the bulbs and discard them. Waste of time/money. Customer service seemed more concerned about the negative review I left on TrustPilot. Please be careful if considering purchasing daffodil bulbs from DutchGrown. This is all 100% the truth. On a positive note- happy gardening!

Never again. This company either has a big a problem with quality control, or is simply dishonest. And the customer service is non-existent. I placed two orders ($300 total) in the summer 2021 for all those fancy daffodils and tulips they list on their website. Not only they left out one variety of daffodils (and my email to customer service was completely ignored, of course), but fast forward to spring 2022, instead of varieties I ordered, I'm having your ordinary big-box store daffodils I paid big bucks for. The most horrible experience I've ever had with any bulb company. Please, stay away, bring your business to some reputable bulb suppliers (John Sheepers, for example)

I placed a small order for about $50 in 2020 and another for about $100 this year, and I have been very pleased with what I have received from them (Peonies, Allium Globemaster, Allium Ambassador, Grape Hyacinth Blue and Mixed). The Peonies (Joker and another I've received were some of the healthiest and had multiple active eyes growing. While there were problems with the Allium Globemaster I ordered, they were not the only ones having problems with that bulb this season as I ordered them elsewhere and had the same issues. These people were kind enough to refund with an apology and explanation, which I appreciated. The 5 other Allium Ambassador and the 200 Blue and Mixed Grape Hyacinth were huge and very healthy. I liked that they arrived in a nylon net bag that allowed me to hang in the garage until I was able to plant them. The bag is large enough and of good enough quality to reuse multiple seasons. I was pleased with the order in general and the no questions asked support I received after I provided pictures of the Globemaster problems. I'll be doubling my ordered once more next year.

Believe the negative reviews...Terrible Communication When I realized that my order was not arriving in time to get it planted I emailed the company and got an automated response. I called no less than three times and no one picked up and the phone message stated that the mail box was full. I emailed again. Then I emailed to state that I wanted to cancel my order as it would not get to me in time. I ended up having to order from a different company to be sure that I would have what I needed in spring. Those bulbs arrived in under a week. After I obtained tulips from a different company, still no direct communication from DutchGrown, they sent my shipment. I've not opened the box yet as the ground is now frozen and I cannot plant them anyway. I am forced to say that at some point I thought that the company was just a front for a scam operation. What store does not answer its phone and allows its mailbox to be so full that no messages can be recorded? In good faith I spend $135.94 with this company which was charged at the time of order in the summer. They take your money first which would be OK if they sent the product in time for planting OR at least answered questions to let a client know what was happening. Don't trust them.

Posted on October 13, 2021, updated October 17, 2021 I contacted DutchGrown three times by email to ask when my small order would ship and they did not reply to any of my messages. I have no idea when or if I will receive the Eremurus I ordered. They obviously have very poor customer service. I will shortly dispute their charge on my credit card as I indicated to them I would if they did not reply to my final email.

On October 17th, 2021, plant_collector changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: Four days after my initial post I received my order from Dutch Grown. The Eremurus are of good size and despite the box being damaged are in pretty good shape.

I hate to leave a bad review--but this one is would be a double negative! A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I am a Master Gardener. In the spring we have a flow of cars and pedestrians by our house to see our bulb gardens--we have over 2500 bulbs planted. We know what we are doing! I have had almost 100% beautiful blooms from John Scheepers, McClure & Zimmerman, Brent & Beckys and Odyssey Bulbs--I will only order from them in the future. We ordered from Dutch Grown for the first time last year--Ixia, Narcissus, Chionodoxa, Tulips, Fritillaria, Eranthis. The bulbs did not look great when they arrived, but I planted them. With the exception of some of the Narcissus, the bulbs did not perform well at all. Very disappointing. I wrote a review on TrustPilot after getting no response reaching out to Dutch Grown. Once the negative review was posted, Dutch Grown reached out, was very apologetic, and offered to replace my entire 2020 order this year. I am not sure if it is ethical to change a review in exchange for product, but I agreed. I just received the "replacement" order--it had 3 items that I never ordered in 2020, nothing else. I feel scammed. I wrote a negative review on TrustPilot. They wrote a reply on the site that they shipped a full replacement order of beautiful bulbs--but they sent me an email that they canceled my replacement order because I wrote a bad review. That is a total contradiction. This is obviously a dishonest company.

Posted on April 28, 2021, updated April 29, 2021 This is about Dutch Grown. I did unsuccessfully attempt to resolve difficulties with the company. I have ordered from Dutch Grown for several years. The quality of the bulbs has slowly deteriorated over the years, but not enough to mention until 2020. In 2020, I ordered 200 Parade (red) tulips and 200 Golden Parade tulips. When they "bloomed" this spring, I was so disappointed! All of the "red" tulips were dwarf bulbs and not Parade as ordered. These dwarf monstrosities were unsightly and did not fully open. The order was incorrectly filled, and the beautiful yellow/red profusion of tulips I so anticipate in the spring did not happen. Had they given me credit for the 2020 order, I would not be writing this review. I wasted my money in 2020. I will try another company this year.

On April 29th, 2021, Shardon changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: After a representative of Dutch Grown read my comments on the Garden Watchdog, he reached out to me and gave me a complementary re-order of tulips to be sent in October. (I APPRECIATE THE GARDEN WATCHDOG!) I am hoping the tulips promised by Dutch Grown will arrive in October 2021 and be satisfactory when they bloom in the spring of 2022.

Made my first order from this company this year for alliums, ixias and species crocus. The bulbs that arrived were firm and healthy and the alliums wer good sized bulbs, which is not always the case in. mail order. They were out of the 25 Orange Monarch crocus I ordered so substituted a bag of 100 healthy mixed species crocus; very nice! The ixia bulbs were healthy as well. A good experience!

This company brags that "you've never seen bulbs as big as ours!" So I expected a great order of top size bulbs. My first order was O.K. with some very nice tulip bulbs that were the advertised size and some nice quality daffodil bulbs that were smaller than the advertised 12+ cm, many were side bulbs broken off of double and triple nosed bulbs with the center bulb missing. There were no double or triple nosed bulbs, which are nearly always included in orders that have "top size" bulbs. I was told "that's how that variety grows". When my next order of different varieties came several of the bulbs were dead and dried out and all were well under the 12+cm promised many were just side bulbs, The size of a quarter about 3cm, broken off of triple and double nose bulbs. The large center bulbs were missing. One package that was supposed to include 25 bulbs had only 22 small bulbs the largest of which were about 5cm rather than the promised 12cm. Some bulbs were sprouted and soft, betraying poor storage methods. I couldn't get anyone on the phone to complain about the poor bulbs and had to email and hope someone read it. I did receive a prompt refund for all of my orders including the one I canceled, but my spring display is ruined since the varieties I wanted are sold out locally and it is too late to order from another source. This company makes big claims, but doesn't deliver.
