Blooms of H.plantaginea are very large and fragrant, but only last one day, after opening the night before. This bloom measured more than 3 inches wide by 6 inches long, a typical size.

The bright white blooms really stand out. Take pictures early in the day, since the blooms begin to close a little after the sun gets strong.

This hosta has large, yellowish-green leaves on tall stems. It makes a good contrast to my blue hostas. Some of the leaves always try to come up too early and get the unfurled tips damaged..visible in photo.
