On 14th November 2007, a couple of hens were feeding amongst corn (wheat) stubble. I managed to walk within a few feet of them, their eyesight is poor in low light. Well camouflaged

She decided to run for cover, the sun was very low in the sky and lit up her feathers.

With an eye still on me, she headed for cover of dead grass next to a deep drain. Notice how her feathers match the dead foliage once more when out of the sun.

Another female took to flight, they fly low for cover.
