What's blooming in your garden #4
Prudence, they are magnificent. Great to have an Irish iris gardener on the thread. I have a friend who always says when I go to the Iris Convention, that I am going to the Irish Convention -- on purpose. I do have a little Irish in my as do about half the citizens of the US.
Hello, Darkness is one of my all time favorite irises. Don't lose your name tags!
pajaritomt, thank you for your kind words. "Great to have an Irish iris gardener"... try saying that after a few drinks, he he. I think "Irish Convention" is a meeting in a pub!
I bought 20 TBs late last year, and 14 are in bud, so I'm sure more will be open tomorrow. Even my DH cannot believe how beautiful they are and so far, his favourite is Hello Darkness.
Apart from Iris, my other 2 passions are Lilium and Daylilies.

Mattsmom, they are fab! Especially like the first two.

Nice pics!
Thanks! I am so excited, since this is my first year to have some nicer iris. Most of my previous iris came from gardening friends. These may not be the cutting edge iris, but they are beautiful to me. Should have more blooming tomorrow. I can't wait!
Poem of Ecstasy bloomed for me last year and it is a keeper. Baught Stairway to Heaven and Hoope it Blooms this year. Nice photos everyone.
Fabulous iris, mattsmom. Those are ones to be proud of. Not that there is anything wrong with the ones you get from friends. I got a lot of mine that way. I belong to the local chapter of the AIS and we divide and sell our extras for the benefit of the club. It is how pay for our programs. So I buy rhizomes at these sales and have gotten some really nice ones. I have also bought some from the big name hybridizers as well. I am a true addict.
Sounds like you have the makings of a true iris addict, too, prudence. Do post pictures as your new babies bloom. And by the way, I am also very fond of lilies and day lilies. I have more irises, but I have quite a few of the day lilies and lilies as well.
I have mostly daylilies in my gardens, but have added many iris & lily bulbs. I can see why iris are so "addictive", every time I look at all of the wonderful pix on the iris forum, my wishlist gets longer.
Yep, the iris forum is dangerous to the pocketbook and the back, but very fun.
I like that deep rich color on World Without End.
It really is a beauty isn't it Rita.
More for the wishlist!
