These look like seed pods but they are flowers:)
It produces beautiful red berries in autumn though, they are uneatable.
The elementary species are not variegated and mine is cv.

Oh yes, I see now, Goldenfish. I zoomed in on the flowers, and there are indeed sexual parts of the flowers peaking inside. Strange flowers, but very interesting.

Wow..what an array of alpines! I just got back froma week long trip so I have not had a chnace to take any pics....I'll have to get at it! Must be Oxalis season as mine are having a show too.
The snow cover makes all the diff for that rhody....I used to have that one but too much snow one winter crushed it to the ground.
