Meet the Pond Mistress

Phoenix, AZ

After a day of tending to her ponds she laid down to take a short nap ☺

I still have a lot of planting to do. I need to find a contrasting sedum to plant around her. She is made of Penny Royal and that is Bronze carpet in front of her.

I think he is right. He did not do anything. It must have been Buzzy ! lol

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5a)

Well, Spike does have a well-developed sense of style... maybe he thought she'd look better with a more layered "do"...

Phoenix, AZ

He doesn't think she's a fire hydrant, does he?

I saw this on my phone this afternoon and I couldn't wait to get home to take a look on the computer itself. What I saw then was so fantastic I had to show my hubby... but that little thumbnail didn't do this gal justice at all.

My Goodness Fishy, you've done an *awesome* job in NO TIME at all! I can't wait to send a link to Connie to see this. Can you show us the overall area? She doesn't look like she's taking up much space at all.

I want one!!!!

Janet

Phoenix, AZ

I'll get a pic tomorrow of the area, she measures 4ft from the top of her forehead to the bottom of her leg.

Janet, I think you need one!

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I'd have to plant something that will be self sufficient. I'm going to be gone for a month in July. That's one of our hottest months here and I'm dreading what I will find when I return. Watering isn't one of hubby's preferred chores. He did like the looks of your pond mistress though. I just wonder how it would do in my back yard. We've lost so many trees over the past 5 years due to hurricanes and the sunlight is totally different again this year.

I'm going to have to scope out the yard to see where she would do the best.

Thanks so much for the inspiration. I have been watching Dovey's thread as well and really admire the way you both have taken mounds of soil and plants and created people!

I have that face mold already so the main expense of doing the project has already been spent. I've probably got some sedum laying around back there too.

I really like your idea of the blue mosaic tiles.

I removed her face today and was going to work on the mosaics tonight. My DH is staying @ his daughters about 70 miles away baby sitting her 10 month old 150 lb Bull Mastiff while she is out of town. He had a grocery bag full of his vitamins, tooth brush etc. Well, he called and got all the way there and realized he accidentally grabbed my bag full of broken blue glass instead of his bag LOL! So no mosaics got done tonight :(

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm trying really hard not to laugh here. It's not working!

Do you "free hand" the mosaics on your goddess faces? Or do you do any photo editing to get ideas? You've really got a wonderful flair for dressing them up.

The one I made last year is still "naked". Mine has already got some bird millet growing in it. That might make for some good hair.

Plan ahead? Me? Lol! I just sit down and start gluing ☺

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I think it's time to go over to Connie's shop and "raid" my bead suitcases!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Funny fishy! The puppy won't mind the bad breath I guess. lol!

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

Have you guys seen Dovey's meadow maid?
