We are building a duck pen and the rain stopped us from getting through. All we have to do is put the gate up on it.We went to town and bought 19 baby duckling today.Don't know what kind they are it will be a surprise until they get their feathers. They come from Ideal Poultry.Next week i'm going to get some Mallards.

They're adorable RoseGirl! Can't wait to see them as they grow!
Rose, I am assuming that you know the breed, just not the sex. Am I correct? If you don't know the breed, I can tell you or you may wait for feather surprise ;o)
Kim
Kim,we don't know the breed of them. They were all mixed up at the feed store. What are the breeds of them?
Cody
I will send you a dmail, Cody.
OK Kim thanks,by the way we are getting two kid pools from the dollar store for them.
Cody
you've got my curiosity aroused...i'd love to know what they are...runner?
I think we have Khaki Campbells,Cayugas and Blue Swedish ducks.
Ooooooo, how exciting! I have Blue Swedish too! I don't have the other types though. :-)
Cool,i can't wait for them to get their feathers though.
Waiting for ducks to get feathers is a looooong process. I was amazed at how different they are to chicks in that respect. With chicks, those feathers begin coming in right away and you can see what they will be like. With ducks, it takes forever - they get huge and are still covered in down with basically no sign of feathers. My Muscovy duckling babies hatched March 16 are JUST starting to get feathers now.
wow...what a great find for you...i've got cayugas for the first time...it's nice to see what they will look like as they get older...virginia
Yes, it does take forever on the duck's feathers. My geese are feathering out quicker than the ducks.
Virginbred, what did your Cayugas look like when they were babies?
Yes,we are getting so Geese to this week.We are getting 5 males and 5 females Pilgrim geese. They are going to roam on our land. It's good that we are getting them as babies so they will be use to us.They will be our watchdogs.
Oh so cute! All of them!
tis the season!!! seems everyone is hatching out chicks or buying from hatcheries or stores...i know i've got my hands full at the moment...6 months from now i'll know what everyone is gonna look like...lol
Thanks Virgina,they are too cute.
cody...how old are your ducks?
Virgina,i'm not for sure, but they are pretty good size.
I went and got my 5 Mallards.I will post a picture of them later.
Oh boy! I cannot wait to see them!
Virgina, the babies are two weeks old today. They were born on the 9th.
I will post pictures of the mallards when they get through uploading.
I'm doing the happy dance.Me and my son was in the pen with the ducks.Well i heard something so i turn my head and one of the females layed an egg on the ground.I was so happy,They have not been here one day yet and already laying an egg.Once we got them in the pen last night, they settled in like they have been here the whole time.
Here is a picture of the females.
They are adorable!
