Show Us your Bird Feeders, Vol. 12

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Time for a new volume.

We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/946375/
At the end of volume 11, we saw cute dipped pine cones, screen/mesh Nyjer feeders and a wishing well converted to bird feeder.

Here is an oldie but goodie. My cat watching the downy woodpecker on the platform feeder with suet cage.

Nice pic! Your cat is so cute.

Thanks for starting the new thread!

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

I love my platform feeder and so do the cardinals and woodpeckers. My kitty loves to watch birdie TV, too

Mrs Ed,
Adorable picture of the cat. *S* And gadzooks you have a lot of finches, I'm getting a few but nothing like the ones feasting at your house.

dellrose,
About your mockingbird photo, http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6196986
I thought it was fabulous, I love how he has buried his head into the cone trying to get a nibble.
It's better than a standard bird shot, very interesting. (imho)

Well it is slightly warmer this morning than yesterday. I must go out and fill the feeders . It is almost daylight, and 19 degrees. Snow didn't melt much yesterday, only got to 32 degrees.

That is a really cute one Mrs. Ed...your cat is beautiful!

Thank you Dove...I appreciate your comment.

It is snowing this morning so I have been trying to get a few window shots. Here is a new cheapo feeder I got yesterday...the Goldfinches love it of course. I don't think they have ever met a feeder they didn't love!! Those two on the right crack me up and so typical of their behavior!

Not the best picture in the world but here are some little ones waiting their turn to get to my sock feeder. I counted as many as over 20 trying to get to the little sock feeder and another finch feeder.

mrs--they definitely make me smile

apologize for taking up posting space since these really don't fit here

wanted to share them just because they inhabit my garden

lets see--if a bird eats them , well maybe they could be 'bird feeders'

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

i liked them!!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, while we're a little off topic… turns out, squirrels like grapes.

I was trying to entice some woodpeckers and any robins that might show up.

gardn_ Great pictures, I love frogs, mine are still under ground. I especially loved your photo of the frogs and chimes.

Donna

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I love those frogs...at first I thought they were ceramic! I can't wait for our tree frogs to start hanging on the windows!

That is a super shot Mrs. Ed...I feel deprived not having any squirrels!

Marlton, NJ

Oh I was afraid squirrels liked grapes. I was thinking of putting cut up ones in my Oriole feeder. Never mind that.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Well I coulda told you that Mrs. Ed! They became regualrs at the Oriole Buffet last year grabbing some grapes. I spent a fortune grapes believe me. The following all ate them

Oriole
Cardinal
Jay - loved them!!
Catbird
Red-bellied
Squirrels
Chipmunks
Raccoons - this one got the left overs at the end of the day

LOL...Nanny!

The Mockingbirds love the grapes also!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Nanny! So glad I don't have the raccoon problem. just possums.

Rose I could send you some squirrels. I have too many. And, just saw some squirrel um… mating… going on!

She wanted nothing to do with him though.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I'll take them Mrs. Ed...I noticed several on the road yesterday..so spring is fast approaching.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

One of our signs of spring is when we start seeing those black kitties with the big white stripe down the back... we have seen a couple out and about....

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ha. why don't you go up and try to pet one, Nanny.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

You are bad....missy

I need my fingers thank you!

Thank goodness we don't have any black kitties here in our suburbs.....but tons of squirrels. They are a nuisance at times and dig everywhere. I do feed them peanuts in the winter though because they get hungry too. In the spring, when I am digging in my flower beds, I find pecans everywhere that they have buried. I can almost get enough to make a pecan pie LOL

Marlton, NJ

You guys are a hoot!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

You guys crack me up! LOL!

The smaller birds love this feeder and the dome keeps the bigger birds from eating all the good stuff. Here are American Goldfinch and on the left is a Pine Siskin. I have also seen Purple Finches, Wrens, Tufted Titmice and Bluebirds using it...
