Let's see your favorite garden harmonies

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It doesn't matter if they're bulbs, perennials, annuals or trees. We need some color at this time of year.

Nameless yellow daylily with red eye and Seductor. They bloom happily with Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon', very invasive here but I do enjoy how the colors go together.

One of our own hybridized daylilies along with the ever present Houttuynia.

Every year, when this area blooms, I end up taking more photos of it.

This 'Salmon Star' is so fabulous by itself that I've stopped trying to put any other plant with it.

Your eyes are fine, I just used the "blur" feature because I wanted sole concentration on the Japanese irises.

This could be entitled 'A Tribute To Pam' thread.

Lovely pictures Pirl!

I've posted this before:

Do I go for blues and purples, or what? Seeing those pics, I need some color in my garden, LOL.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the pics. I feel like I am aching for color right now. I need to move to a warmer zone... I'm hateing winter this year.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Polly - your photos are fabulous. The second one could easily be a painting! I love it.

Zuzu is bound to spot this thread and add some of her blues so you are not alone. I love them as well.

Juney - we who suffer winter feel the same way.

Here's an aster that has covered a huge mound of sod that was removed when we enlarged gardens. I didn't put any other plant with it but it could probably play well with a Stella D'oro daylily.

Of course, cats go well with anything.

Thanks, Pirl. That's the pic on the front page of my website.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Quite welcome. Yes, our pets go with all photos, as do our little loves.

Grandchildren go well with anything, too.

We can all learn a lot from Pirl about putting plants together. Some people just have the eye for it, and she is one of them.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Some things just happen - totally unplanned.

I never even considered blending these two and never once realized before I planted that the unnamed lilies were even in this area. My aim was to create a good trio of JI's.

I'm another blue and purple addict. I don't have a lot of yellow, but seeing Pirl's JI and lily combo, I think I will work on adding some yellow.

Polly, that is a beautiful pic to grace your website.

I love looking at pairings. It's always so inspiring. And, of course, sometimes wallet busting!

This was an accident when a Morning Glory intruded on a roses space.

This is an intentional pairing that does have yellow. And, ahem, purple.

I dubbed this shot sidewalks and skyscrapers. It's an ant's eye view.

Very nice, Louise! I think that's the Morning Glory that forced itself on me in the form of a seed packet yesterday. Is it 'Pink Star'?

This one is mostly shades of green with some raspberry at times.

Louise - beautiful combinations. Is that Pink Ice morning glory. That one forced itself into my hands yesterday!

Nice one, Polly. Your ants have some wonderful views in your gardens.

Aha! You caved too on the MG. I ordered 2 packets of MG seed. I clearly remember saying I would never plant MG again.

I believe the one in the photo is good old Heavenly Blue.

Another favorite pairing:

I said the same exact thing about MG's!

What a perfect pairing of Roguchi and that rose!

Mozart would have been 250 years old today if he'd only taken care of himself. Fool!

We reclaimed this part of our backyard from a heap of ivy and blackberry. The walnut tree has beautiful bark, but it's slowly dying from a fungal disease. Plants here include 'Bowles Mauve' erysimum, New Zealand Flax 'Rubrum', Alaska hybrid nasturtiums, arum lilies, silver helichrysum, 'Tropicanna' canna lillies, standard white calla lillies, yellow broom (Cytisus).
