I GOT THEM!
Lavender and Pearl?
Aww how cute! I only have pearl grays. Keep them warm and dry and in a snake-proof location. I found a HUGE bullsnake under my brooder a week or so ago.
yes, lavender and pearl. they are in thr garage, where i hope they will be safe
Very pretty, Ooh I'm getting good wit' da colors, lol! (Doing crazy chicken dance).
dancing with you
WooHoo! ; 0 )
i'm getting tired! ;o)
(Kinda dizzy)!
getting a hot flash. just checked the babies. boy can theyeat
wow, some of your pearl are pied, then looks like two lavendar and on ecoral blue, big congrats!!!
jordankittyjo,
They are absolutely as pretty as can be .... and I'm sooooooooooo ... green with envy. You have 3 of the Royal Purple color in your group of keets and it sorta looks like your 3 blueish keets are really 2 different shades .... maybe a 2 of the Powder Blue and 1 Sky Blue. So awesome. I wish they were mine so beautiful !

your right about the pearl being pied tf! actually your right all way around. wally (i got them from him) said the same thing
i just hope i do right by them i'm in love with them.
are you giveing them turkey starter crumble? what was he feeding them, medicated or not?
get the book:
www.guineafowl.com
and paln to keep them locked up for six weeks before you beign to turn them out. also, the ACV with garlic is very good for them...
and lots of handling. even if they will run wild, you want them not so afraid that if you have an injured one you can handle it without it trying to scratch the heck out of you...
they'e getting medicated starter, and i ordered the book this morning. they have the bluest eyes. and eat lots
hug them lots!
will do! i talk to them alot.
did you know they are smar t enough to learn words? use certain words when you feed or water. and then another word for a treat, you will use that anytime you need to cal lthem in...
and you can boss them if they peck each other, just like you would chicks, errr, like i would chicks LOL
you lucky duck you!
thanks for the info TF. i will make sure i keep you updated
When I see a chick pecking another one I just tap it lightly on the head and say stop and they do not seen them do it again. My chicks know words also, When I go out in the morning I say chicky chicky while I am rounding the corner, so they are not scared when I get there. They are so calm.
Darn, I thought I saw a pied one I guess I got the colors wrong! Errr, oh well. (pouting) : )
i lik your guineas pretty cool colours
Patch,
I suspect the 1-2 of the Royal Purple keets in this group is Pied. .... so you're right too. I have a few just like these 5 week old keets but they're adult. They end up with white flight feathers ... all of mine are hens and it is a typical trait for Royal Purple hens to have white flight feathers. Technically they're Pied but they are like 98% Royal Purple. Pied can be any color variety with white. The typical Pied have a large swath of white in one of more places ... like on their chest. This is a very handsome group of keets. I'd like some of those blue-lavender ... real real nice. Kelly in Moxee
wow heaps of people have them looks lik they are the next thing on the list to get
are they expensive cause i need low budget poultry
kelly, one of the pearl have ane all white chest
lucky, i bought them local at 5 dollars a piece
oh thats pretty cheap
yeah, and i have 4 more coming soon.
Kathy they are so cute! Why are they your fav's over the
chicks or poults? I didn't know they were the 'smart' bird.
Yes, I have read they must be cooped up for 6 weeks so
they will go back in where you want them at night. They fly
well, and like to have a wide landing board on the top rail
of the coop- helps them in and out. And, they love to look
at themselves in a mirror. I can't tell you how many pics
I've seen with a mirror standing up for them to admire
themsleves.
one day i might get som but for now i am happy with my chickens
truest, you should see them fly. i have screen on the top of them now. when hubby builds their coop i have a big mirror for it. my favorite is the pied
Have you named them yet? Yeah, I love guinneas, and
I will probably have to try to raise some- but not for now.
I have my hands full.
still thinking on names. i still have 4 more coming in about a month
"when hubby builds the coop..." OUR's is till a bunch
of posts stuck in concrete- Hubby? Hubb---yyyy?
Oh I can't wait till we finish that thing! I want my chickies
in at night! All has been good so far with the free ranging
and sleeping out at night, but I know there will come a
day when some varmint comes to call. We already had
a racoon, but that was back before the chickies went
outside- thank goodness that particular one is no longer
a worry- but where there's one...
he'll build it soon, cuz he's informed my my girl freind can not have the 2 i promised her. they are his! a complete change from the man that didn't want them
Sounds like my DH. He has really grown to like the
cochins best. I catch him talking to them and petting
them. It is so cute- he even expressed a favorite- he says
I like the cochins, let's stick with those... But, the amer's
are so tuff and scrappy! I like their pluck! (and blue eggs)
The polish are very sweet, but vulnerable, requiring special attention, and I don't want to have to keep them cooped up all the time.
my hubby says we are sticking to RIR next year, cuz the new hampshires are older, but not laying yet
I have a friend here that has a few guinneas, and she
just loves them. I think they are the funniest things. I
think they are very cute- some I've heard talk about them
being less than that, but no-- they are cute!
RIR can't be beat for egg laying. Well, leghorns might, but
they are so small and dinky- the RIR are really hardy, and
lay so great. I had RIR a loooong time ago, and have a sherrif
friend that wants to give us some hatching eggs.
i just love them
