CLOSED: Fairy Garden & Fairy Garden Art Swap!! #3

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

If you want to join the fun, I am taking names for a couple more days:)

We came from here 1st: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/869868/
And most recently here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/871202/

Hello-My name is Stacey and of course since I am Fairy1004 I want to do a fairy swap!!!

I will open it today and will post names on the 2nd post-if you don't see your name and it should be there, JLMK:)

Just 2 rules for this swap:
1. If you already have a Fairy Garden or Fairy garden art, please give us a peek so that we can:
a. get ideas and share
b. not get you the same things you already have
2. You MUST post a pic when you get your surprise from your swap partner!!

I will close it on 7/8 and get names & addys to you on 7/9. While I hate to set $$ limits, around $20 is reasonable I think...

IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE EXCHANGE OR HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ONE OF MY CO-OPS, dmail me your address.

I expect all packages to be mailed out by 7/18-if you have an emergency, at least be courteous and dmail your buddy to let them know:)

I have attached a pic of what I have-I still need to paint some things and actually put it outside-it was raining today, so I set it up on my fireplace to give you an idea...

Here are some sites that have things for a fairy garden and fairy garden art.
Some of these are all compliments of other DG members that found them-thanks guys!!

Hey everyone-happy 5th to ya:)

IF you have links on other pages, please bring them over, as well as have/want lists or what your theme will be-fairy, gnome, elf, toad....

PlantRN-I need your address please ma'am for your buddy...

If you need your buddies name early because you don't have any ideas on what to do yet, LMK:)

I will be gon all day-going to MIL today to give her that fabulous fabric to make me things with:)

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Stacey for starting us anew thread and clarifiing the buddy list. I saw that bold post but it didn't have blinking lights on it. ROFLMBO Couldn't comprehend much of anything I read yesterday. Not a good one for me, but today I pray will be a better day.

My mini gardens will be butterfly related. I'm "dressing up" my butterfly puddling spots and mineral licks with a butterfly theme. Butterflies need landing pads in any form to land on to warm up, and dry their wings if damp amd slanded horizonals to pupate on. Pretties that stick up above flowers that I can make into nurseries, rocks for warming etc are items I'm on the look out for when I shop for minis. Oh and there will be a fairy here and there to guard my butterflies.
I plant host and nectar plants for butterflies then hand raise them when I find eggs. Found some Clouded Sulfurs on my baby Cassia tree I winter sowed. Too excited about raising a new species of butterfly!

Here's wishing everyone a wonderful day today.

Deborah

BTW-Deborah-did you see the pics and link I posted at the bottom of the last one for you??

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Bev's Toadily Mini Garden

Need: Moist & shady environment, so any plants must be happy with conditions. Would love some Coriscan mint. Need a toad-brella to shade some of the mini plants until main plants grow enough to shade the area more.

Would love to have a Wishnik Troll doll to watch over the toad-dom! (UPDATE: I won over a dozen on eBay auctions, but will gladly take more if my swap buddy already has some!). I'll have a toad and troll community, lol!

Have: Toad abode w/new door, mini clay flower pots (only going to use the top 2 in the photo), gazing balls (left in photo), bug buttons on wires (shown stuck in mondo), gravel, rocks, sand, and the pool/planter dish, wishing well, toadstools are all under construction.

I have plenty of moss, Brass Buttons/Platt's Black ferns, mother-of-thyme, lemon thyme, and dwarf mondo grass.

I'll keep editing this post to keep my info from being scattered.

Deborah, would you share some photos of your butterfly gardens? Or direct me to another thread where you have posted photos? I'd love to see them. My courtyard area has many plants for butterflies but is not strictly dedicated to them. I built a new butterfly/hummingbird garden in a front bed this spring and am working on adding more host plants. It can be seen from my computer desk (where I spend way too much time)and should provide a lot of enjoyment as it matures.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning Girls.
So, Fairlica... what are you making your mushrooms out of?... HOW?

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Morning BJ!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Mornin' Sundownr... how was your 4th? Do something special?

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Nope, well yes, I put up the cherries... that was special to me, lol.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

(grin) such exciting lives we lead... huh?

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Hahaha, that's what DH said, too!

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

The dog got excited over the fireworks down the street, not in a good way!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Is the dog alright? Can you get the stains out of the carpet? LOL

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Mornin' Glories! Did everybody have a good Fourth? I didn't do anything! Watched a few fireworks from my front door about 9:30, but the trees have gotten so tall I couldn't see it to well, so I went to bed!Still lookin' for my Bailey's!

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

She crawled up on the couch beside DH and trembled until it was over. She's getting old and noises scare her easily.

Well, better get busy. You have a good day!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

You too... don't work too hard today...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Bartles & James-I am using some stuff I found in the wood section @ Michaels-I will have to try & take a pic for ya-on MOn probably:)

Off to MIL-have fun today gals and miss me-be back in about 12hrs.!!

Psst-Bev-I like the name just the way it is:)

I am thankful my neighbors are as crazy as I am-the show that 2 houses put on was better than the town one I could see out the window!! W/ DH gone, I got some for when he got home, but just had some sparklers for little ole me last night-but then the June bugs got here and they seem to like me and fly right into me, so I knew it was time to head in-wathced the show from the fairy bedroom:)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Bartles & James? You stayed up all night thinking up that one... right?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Would you believe I forgot Cedric's last name? Shoulda wrote it down! (My gnome). Of course I can remember Harry Hangar! And I can't remember where I posted it! Sigh, I need my Bailey's!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I haven't named my gnomes yet... gotta find out what their purpose is in Lor Amar first... they're going to have jobs... keepers of the land, of sorts... I have some ideas rolling around my head, but don't exactly know what yet.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Debra, I've got some pictures in my 1/2 baked diaries (in need of major condensing) here on Daves. Blooms '08 plus some from last year are scattered about. There are pictures in some diaries that belong in other diaries. Oh well, I'm a detailed nut with the need for organization. They should go hand in hand but not so much in my case. LOL When you see the weeds you can get the idea. I've only been gardening 3 years and this is my 2nd year for raising butterflies. Not really much to see but please take a look see.

Y'all run, don't walk, to your nearest TRACTOR SUPPLY! Gardening art and the like is 50% off! The whole store is 25% in my little town. Yes, I went bizzerck!

Fort George G Meade, MD

WOW Stacey. those copper things you posted are great! I am soooo going to go broke staying around here.... http://www.agreatplacecarmel.com/garden_stakes_13.html

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my poor checkbook and it is only the 5th. Hope DD will feed me the rest of the month.

Mornin' y'all. Be careful Tinky Winky, we want you home safely.

Such ideas flowing now--head still aches from all the information. Bailey's doesn't help it now--it's in overload.

Love the copper stakes--Oh my the ladybugs!!! I gotta have 'em--okay swap buddy I definitely will incorporate ladybugs in my gnome/fairy gardens. I'm working with grnomes and faires and only have the gnomes at this point. Materials to make some other things but not started as of this time.

Well off to be productive!! Atleast try. Oh Deborah, thanks for the note about Tractor Supply --on list to go today for cat food so will check out sales. Oh thank ye, thank ye!!

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Hello Fellow Sawppers!!!

Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my Christopher. :o)

Marion- you don't have to dall you AGS Goober, in fact lately his new nickname has ben Chicken Noodle ;o) I'll say "Good Morning Chicken Noodle." and he says back "Good Morning Tomato Soup." hee hee hee, You can tell what kind of soups we eat!!LOL!! BTW I told him that he now has an ADoptive Grandma and he thought that was so "ccol" ;o)

Stacey- I'm hoping my miniatyres get here today or Mon. at the latest, I will make my list of haves/wants then. is that okay?? WOuld it be possible for me to get my buddies name early as well?? TY

BJ- How ya doin' today?? I'm so tired from layoing compost through out my garden yeasterday...UGH and I still need to get more. Of course I need to dig out 3 more bushes still, so I guess I can take a bit of a break until my fall bulbs get here.

How was everyones Fourth?? WE had a ball, we all climbed up on the roof and could see the fireworks perfectly. So far we have totally lucked out. In both of the houses we have lived in here in Santee, we beenable to watch the fireworks, whitout having to drive a few blocks to deal with all the madness that goes on at the site where they set them off.

I'm off to check for some sales. TTYallL ~melissa

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Melissa... I'm doing fine... sounds like you worked harder than I did yesterday. But it sounds like you faired pretty well in spite of it.

Got my order from the Ebay lady... that was really quick...

Got my buddy's name, and am pulling all the goodies together now, making a little miniature box to send them all in...LOL...not really... got quite little collection going on here.

BTW... SPHERE UPDATE... so far so good on the spheres... some broke when I tried to clean them... but I still have about 10 that made it through the initial processes. I notice that when the mud is real thin, it's easily broken when scraping the bumps off ... so, the 1/2" shell is a bit risky to work with.

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

Wow y'all have been busy! I posted pics of these on the other threaf but thought I would put them over here for all the fairy peoples. Thye are from the tile section of Lowes. They are really cool and inexpensive, thought they would make nice paths and maybe other stuff?

Thumbnail by jojoringer
Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Ewwww, I like those Joey!!! Are those the strips that you lay down/up? Kinda like small tile that has that threading on the back for grout??

Glad you got yur package today BJ, that means I should get mine here in about 1 hour, when my postal lady shows up....whoo hoo!!

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

Yup thats what they are Melissa. They run 3-4 bucks each, wouldnt they make pretty paths?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I gotta go to Lowes (have to go out of town)! Wonder if HD has them? I gotta have some of those! You are absolutely right about that! They'd make excellent paths!

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Joey- Yes I'm sold...hope HD has them, gotta go back anyway...you know I can't stay away from my HD for more than a week!!LOL!! Thank you for idea. I think they would make excellent pathways ;o) Another idea I will be "borrowing"..hee hee

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh yes HD does have them. I am so glad to see others are as addicted to HD and Lowe's as I am. Best stores in the world. My quilt shops have been demoted to second place now.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I've just painted 3 yoghurt tubs, large ones with brown crackle plastic spray paint. Or mottled. Then I did a small yoplait tub for a bird bath. For the fairy garden. Big ones for a castle! They dry quickly!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oooo Audrey... that sounds interesting... I do want to see pics when you're done.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Me too!!! Wondering how the that was going to work. Please post a picture.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I just finished a table made out of popsickle sticks. Hard to get the legs to stay glued on! When I've finished it all and painted the table, I'll post pics. Hope it turns out half as good as I want it to!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Audrey, where did you get popcycle sticks? That sounds so cute! A picket fence could be made out of those too. I think I saw fence someone made but I can't remember which thread. You've just got the creative juices flowing, gf.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Audrey...yes post pics post pics!!!

:o( I didn't get my miniatures today, hopefully tomorrow.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah, you can get popcycle sticks at Walmart, and $ Tree... in the craft dept.
