Christi, I think it's Iresine herbstii http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/122912/
Flowering today part III
Lovely pics, Shari I'll never know how you grow things so well in pots, they are the kiss of death for me!
Dale, your pictures are always spectacular! I believe Iresine is known here locally as "chickens feet". Pretty combination isn't it Christi?
Aloha to all
Thx, Dale.
Christi
Good Morning all.
Good morning
Shari they are in part sun
Hey RJ,
your Clero minahasse, when do they sprout the red waxy looking petals with the blue center, also when or if do they die back for the winter.
Thanks,
Dee
Thanks for the info Randy. My thunbergia is in full sun, maybe I'll try moving it to see if that helps. That's the only advantage to pots...easy to move things around. I do it all the time.
My Jatropha tree is blooming...very pretty redish pink clusters. About an inch across, making a nice 4 or 5 inch torch of color against the green.
Those Birds of Paradise look good. Hope mine turn out the same!
Braveheartsmom,
What beautiful flowers! I envy you. Wish I had more room!
Audrey
Sue, we have so many of the same plants! I have several jatropha, but not the one you posted. They are an interesting plant genus, so much variety in the species! Some look completely unrelated to the others. Your BOP is gorgeous. Most times I don't care for the BOP, because they get rather ratty looking, but yours is just beautiful!
My caesalpinia is blooming again...whether you call these poincianna or caesalpinia - young or dwarf, they are a very cool looking tree/shrub/bush.
???? more orchids than what??? I am always posting orchids and I did an article on orchids...Dale, do you mean more variety???
Jeanne, your daylilys are just gorgeous!!!
Thanks! I love them! Love all of your great shots also!
So far I have three orchids and they're all living! So glad I took your advice, Shari and gave it a try!
Ok, I wrote this really long post, and whoosh, it got lost!
So sorry for not acknowledging you all personally, but I'd like to say the pictures have been beautiful and to keep up the good work.
This is a photo taken back in Sept 04, early spring in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Mt Tomah Botanical garden.
Dale, I am still confused about your question regarding orchids.
Sue that weeping cherry is fantabulous!!!!
You're all growing such lovely specimens! My entry in the tropical world has been mostly in the brugmansia area, with an occasional attempt at a few other things. Some failures, but mostly a lot of fun. This is called "Fascination", my current favorite Double Pink Brugmansia. She was hybridized by Monika Gottschalk of Germany.
Aloha all,
mpabbot, that is a true beauty - a Brug I have lusted after for a long time. I know you from other forums and you do indeed have some lovely Brugs. Thank you for posting a picture of just how very beautiful a perfect Brug can be!
I'm with you Shari, the weeping cherries are gorgeous Weed!
Not exactly tropical though, those cherries, but I'm scraping the barrel for pics now.
I'm off on a holiday for 12 days from tomorrow, so wont be around. I'm going to a VERY cool climate (Tasmania) Hpefully I will get some pics of nice things to show when I'm back. If the thread gets to long, can someone please start part IV?
Nice Brom Dale, is it Aechmea blanchettiana?
Nice Brug Mpabbott. I love the pink ones too.
And Nice orchids Shari, didn't lose my post today, so acknowledgments galore!
Sue
Aloha Sue,
I think everyone will agree that pictures don't necessarily have to be "tropical" here - I enjoy seeing all the things I can't grow too!
Have a wonderful trip to Tas., wrap up warmly and take lots of pictures for us!
Aloha.
