DAILY PICS VOL. 64

Can’t wait to see all your great pictures! I’m getting kicked out of the computer room because Kent has a customer coming over so this is my last post for a bit. Great chance to go outside for a while to take more photos myself.

This is the little bird that started my captivation by bird watching. Many days, as I was returning from hikes photographing wildflowers for DG, there would be some bright orange Orioles flitting around the trees near my home and I wanted to bring them closer for a better view. I looked on the net & found that orioles love oranges so put a sliced one in a tree. A few days later this little bird was enjoying the orange. At first all I saw was his back and I thought it was a plain little wren. When it turned and I saw his bright yellow face & red wing patch I fell in love with bird watching.

Balmy 20 degrees this morning. Predicted wind chills of minus 45 to 50 by end of day. Loaded up the feeders already.

I have heard Cardinals singing and hoped to bring them in with more Safflower seeds. Look what happened!

Oh my sybil those temps and wind chills are awful! I'll try not to complain too much when we're getting the 16 degree wind chills in the coming week. Nice pics!

This is a picture taken yesterday. This Cardinal grabbed up a peanut.

Today, it's snowing very hard and cold. Must be February. The Pennsylvania "weather whistle piggy", Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadow on Groundhog Day and predicts six more weeks of this crap!! (It was overcast and freezing rain on Groundhog Day, go figure.)

Another from yesterday. The Jay is eyeing up the Cardinal. Guess it thinks all of the peanuts are Blue Jay food only!

You don't know what cold is! Temperatures of -75 F have been reported during the last three nights in Tok, AK, near the Canadian border. It's warm here in Anchorage, I've only had -10 F.

You are correct! I am spoiled I guess living near the coast! GM :)

Great pics everyone. I am glad it doesn't get really cold here. I still have tropical Water Lilies blooming outside. It barely made it down to 33 degrees so far this winter. Usually mid 40s at night. AC running now at 81 degrees.

Four birds from this morning, one from a while back.

1. Jay

2. Another Jay. I had as many as 5 at a time on the feeder. Most don't stay long.

5. Male Cardinal. He usually goes to a feeder right outside DW's office window. She was late filling the feeder.

Nice one angele, and all the rest!

A Blue Tit was checking out the nest box today, I think I need several! It must be getting full as the BT was sitting close to the hole, which was enlarged by Woodpeckers last year.
