Happy V Day Don, we're coming to your house, be sure to get the gas masks out while we take off with your plants and ghs. BTW, before we leave with everything can you tell me how to start proteas. Thanks.

Seriously Don, about the proteas.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

What a bunch of kooks :*) I been laughing instead of working!!!
Does anybody know what banana seeds look like...could these be some?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Are they think or paper thin. I think they are supposed to be kind of thick. Tammy you have some don't you?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

They are thick Robyn.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I would say it's them, Did you take them from a banana?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Nope .momma is frying chicken!!!
You'd think with a son owning 44 KFC's we wouldn't have to fry chicken at home!!!LOL

Now back to beans, here's how you do it so you don't get the gas,buy a bag of pinto beans, rinse them off real good, soak them all night in water, cook real slow all day, when about half done, peel a big potato drop in beans along with either ham hocks or strips of bacon,or both if you like bring to a simmer, for another couple hours, don't cook them in so much water its a soupy liquid, just barely above the level of the beans maybe a inch or so,I like mine to be thicker juice, the potato brings out the gas!!!
Now I like to butter couple slices of bread and pour the beans over the bread and eat away!!!!

This is about 4ft overall height ,here they can get over 6ft.

Yes I was peeling naners for bread eariler.
Don I have heard of the potato trick I gotta try it!!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

The beans can get 6ft? lol

What is the best way to start the proteas from seeds? I have 6 seeds and really want them to grow.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Kim what kind of banana is that?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well I have tried before with no luck, then I heard about the fire starter and ash, they need to germinate, somewhere I read take a book of paper matches lite a fire and place it over your seeds, they need the hot ash to trigger the seed to germinate,by the time I read this,I had no more seeds,I would think any ash from a wood stove would work as well!.

Here's my last plumeria flower, hmmm smells so nice!!!!

Del Monte #4011 yellow including cavendish ....guatemalan.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

That's beautiful Don.

So I should take some ashes out of the fireplace and mix it with the dirt. I can't imagine doing the match thing, wouldn't it catch the little feather part on fire? Or maybe that's the idea. How about some hot ashes in the dirt?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Clue me in Kim, where did you locate the seeds? I guess I've never looked for any on the banans from the store.
