SEED OF THE MONTH- Winter Sowing #2

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

LOL--doncha know I've got arthur in that shoulder?--you can stop with the arm twisting now:) I think I was just feeling overworked and underloved. This great bunch has proven I am loved--now if y'all would just come clean my house--ROFL. As you can see--this is my day off and not much housecleaning going on just yet---tho i should think about it. Ok, I thought about it..now back to seeds. OH OH I know-- maybe the cleaning gnomes will come while I am playing in the GH!!!

While not zactly winter sown--you have all been so sweet-- I will put a pkg of 5 JMG demono mutant seeds in for everyone in the swap:)

LOL, I know what you mean. I've got to get out of this chair and get some cleaning done too. Good thing, since the sun is shining through this window glaring on my monitor just enough that I can't see as I type.

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Good morning, Ya'll!
I sure hope you can stay put blue_eyes and Tommie! I thought
about not joining in the first place, thought "What could I possibly
have that someone would want? Or, do I really have very much
that can be winter sown?" I went digging, and actually found
quite a lot. I don't think I have anything super special or spectacular,
but there are so many in this trade that surely someone would
be happy to receive some of what I have. Some members have
an abundance that they are willing to share with those still
working on building thier variety.
Here's a list of what I'm sending today:
Mexiacan sunflower
Dianthus
Cyclamen (shade lover)
Tickseed coreopsis
Coneflower, Sundown and Twilight
Siberian iris, purple
Drummond phlox, red
False sunflower
False indigo, blue
False sense of security
Scabiosa
Columbine
Rudbeckia Indian summer
Balloon flower, purp and white
Salvia, coral
Liatris, purple

If anyone needs purple for thier garden, I've got it!! LOL I hope
some of you will find these interesting.
Love, Me.

Please see the Swap List thread for all current updates

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

twohawk-I would love some cyclamen and echinacea too if you have extra. I have planted false sense of security--but it never flowers for me;)

Pawling, NY(Zone 5b)

Wow, I blink and this thread is already a mile long too.. LOL.. Can't seem to keep up here

Sev, yes we are over by you now during the week.. Just Tuesday-Thursday though.. Trying to help out with DH's 5 hr commute each day.. He won't stay here unless I'm around too. So low and behold.. I'm here too. :) I don't mind though.. Since I'm close by, we can try meeting up if you like.. If you want to meet up, I'll look through the edible seeds I have since I mainly do edibles too. I really need to plant them instead of hoarding them.. :)

Jordan, congrats on trying to quit.. Never really started so don't really know but I heard it's "insanely" difficult to quit. So I applaud you on the effort..

Personally, I can't stand the bitter taste of cigarette so kinda hard for me to understand why people smoke when it taste so bitter.. On the other hand tried smoking "b-ng" twice, no taste nor effects so didn't pick that up either. But here gardening, always seem to get a mild rush of endorphins (sense of accomplishment), so got addicted to gardening.. :) Wonder if that counts.. :)

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow- you actually like some of what I'm sending!
How cool, of those you have asked about so far, the
Phlox, I think there are 2 or 3 packs in there, the Twilight c.f
there are 4 packs in there, & 4 packs of Sundown, and the
cyclamen- I believe only 2 packs. My cyclamen are
producing a few more seed pods, so if it runs out, there
will be a bit more in my stash in a couple weeks! They are
not prolific seed producers, but I've had 100% germination
with these.
So glad I can offer something kewl.

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Hillbilly It's a GOOD thing if you don't have
a false sense of security! Better to have the absolute variety!
LOL!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

icso, thanks for the encouragemeny
robbi, one can never have enough morning glories!LOL

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

I agree, Jordan! I love so many MG, I really like any
of the red or magenta, and would love a Star of Yelta.
I think one of these is growing down the road- it is stunning!
The sharp pod, a native, is lavender, and I see so much
of it, other bright colors catch my eye.

Hokay, ladies, I'm going to go do some of that cleaning stuff.
Catch you a bit later!

I am a grad student, and right now we are busy with surgeries and ETs and lots of labwork as well. I also have finals...it never ends. I may have some time once the holidays are over to look over my seeds but probably not before then, so if that is ok then I could stay in.

:) Kim

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Guess ya'll figured out that I posted my list here like
a dingaling before posting on the swap list.
All is updated with your fondest desires-er, from the list,
anyway. Sorry, no Johnny Depp...sigh...

Um, does anyone know if my goats will eat blackberry starts?
I just planted a long line of about 20. I offered the whole
bundle to them before planting, to see if they would like it,
hence needing a new fence around 'em- but they refused it.
Prob cuz they have never seen or smelled it before.

Fair Grove, MO(Zone 6b)

two hawk about the time they start setting berries the goats will "prune" them to the ground for you.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I harvested some Hibiscus mutabilis, Confederate Rose and added them to my Have list. They are hardy to zone 7a.

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks, Dylan. I have already planned to exclude them from
the back of the property, already. I just need a little time
to put up that fence. I have lots of bulbs in the ground, as well,
and don't want them-or Sophia (the horse) to eat my goodies!
I figured just about anything would go for the berries!

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

I'd like to join! :D I've got:
yellow pear tom
red cherry tom
a very small amount of homestead tom
a medium amount of onion seed (but every seed of this germinated in my test)
small amount of eremerus (that are not germinating for me- so if you want these, I hope they are viable...I might just be doing it wrong)
snapdragon seed from last year
and about 5 wisteria seeds that come from my dad's house in CA and need a warm home (the one seed I tested was good)

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Welcome, Hyblaene,
We hope you have a great time!

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

twohawk, Joan I would really like some cyclamen and columbine seeds.
I was visiting a quilting friend in a rehab facility today and on the way to the parking lot I walked past a crape myrtle tree loaded with seed pods, being the good gleaner that I am, I dead headed a few of the pods. Don't know if they are red, lilac or white. But they're available to anyone who wants them.

Blanco, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi,Mittsy! I will reserve the last pak of Cyclamen for you.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

finaly done. we now have 12 pints of apple butter. took most of the day. time for a cocktail
mom, marking columbine for you

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Hi all,
I am going to have to pull out of this one. I have a lot going on right now and won't be able to participate this round. Don't worry, I'll make the next. It is one less pkg Dylan has to worry about ;^)

Traci

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sorry to hear that traci. know you will be missed

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks Twohawk!!

Pawling, NY(Zone 5b)
