Thanks to Margie, avmoran and I 'm sure a few others that I've overlooked.. Here's to the thrill of seeing a new seedling for the first time. I hope others will join in. This one is from a cross of Edith Wolford x Ruffled Goddess. It get's better every year, and will most likely be registered and named in honor of my grandaughter.

Seedlings - My favorite Subject... Here's a few more of mine
I love your crosses. Keep up the good work.
What a great show! I am definitely going to try this next season. Congratulations!!!!
Hey Zacattack just wanted to pop in here and comment on your seedlings. I dont know if you know me on here under this screen name since my ebay name is different, cnaleisa? I bought several of your iris and you sent me aton of your seedlings, but they were just marked seedling so i have no idea which is which but i am excited to see what colors come out of them this coming summer. If anyone is interested in getting anything from you let me tell you it would be a great buy cause you sent me such nice rhizomes indeed...
Just wanted to comment! See you when you have more to sell on ebay!!
Hi hyer1972.... yes I remember you. Thanks for the kind words. I hope you get some nice seedlings. They were from a bed that I had to quickly clear out to extend our grandkids play area. I didn't have the time to label them individually, but a few went out that I wish I had kept... I hope you get some of those. Great to hear from you again. I hope the irises do especially well for you. I am sending you a personal message that contains a link to photos of the seedlings you may have received from me. Thanks Again, Dan
Dan!
You know as they increase, i can always send some back to ya dear! So you dont have to worry about regretting anything at all!
Thank you for the image links, i am sure once the iris start to bloom we can give these guys some mom and pops...lol
Cant wait to see what they bloom into though, i am so excited about them. I only have 2 big loves of my life, flowers anyway, that is Iris and Daylilies. So far i have a gaden full of both, and loving it!

Hi Dan,
Love those seedlings! My favorite is your "Conjuration" seedling! I really like that color combination. May I ask - - what was the other parent? And I like the blue one too!! Very attractive!!
If you have more seedling photos - I hope you share them with us. Keep up the good work!
~Margie
Dan I love your Edith Wolford baby
Make sure we see the second one after you move it would like a little more body on it but that might improve with the move.
Your Spuds and Butter X Heartbeat Away is very nice
I love clean minimal plics like your Batik baby
the pale blue sure looks simple but has a lot going for it very nice
:)

Oh, how I like the blue seedling, I really am a blue person, out of the garden as well as in. The beard is a great contrast.
wow, that beard on the last light blue iris looks like the yellow is ever so gently brushed onto the blue. what a perfectly beautiful flower which I covet highly. and the color on the 2nd one !!!! all of them... I'm just swooning! can you explain to a newbie exactly what it is about the form on the 2nd one that is lacking? and how can I find you on ebay? these are scrumptious. thanks for sharing.
Lisa... Thanks for offering to share the increases. That's very kind of you. I look forward to helping you indentify the parents of the seedlings.
Margie... Thanks for the kind words. The conjuration seedling is from a cross of Conjuration X Red at Night. The blue, a no id purple X Bonnie Davenport. I'll add a few more seedling photos....hope you'll do the same when you get the time.
Anita... Thanks for commenting on my babies. Always good to have other opinions. I have enjoyed viewing your seedlings too... you have some really nice ones. My favorites are the 03SSu seedlings. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Good Luck!
iris MA... Thank You, I appreciate your kind comments. I have a few more blues that I will post for you.
Soulja... The blue is one of my favorites, due largely to the beard. I'm glad you like it too. The iris in the second photo has almost lifeless (drooping) falls... more so than what shows in the photo, not much going for the standards either. It's been growing in the shade of a fast growing Live Oak tree, so hopefully moving it into sunnier location will help.About form.... petals should be full, showing good substance (thick, durable, not easily torn or wind damaged) The shape of irises vary, and many prefer one shape over the others. There are rufflles, lace, erect falls, etc. I am posting a picture of 03-21b, a sibling to the one needing improvement I don't like the color as much, but compare the two, and you can see the difference in form. Thanks for the kind words, Dan
The color pattern on 03-21b isn't my favorite either, but I like the seedling color better that Edith Wolford (sp?). It is brighter, the yellow zone sets the beards off very nicely & the fact that it is orange really draws attention. Standing up to the wind is a great trait on all the seedlings. I would love to see the blue bud when opened.
Dan
03-21b, is Very nice the color is smooth and the lavender to violet blush is wonderful. the clors remind me of Obi-Wan- Kenobi from Clarence Mahan but richer with what appears to be better substance and color saturation
and another very nice Batik baby
:)
Anita
Are any of the seedlings at the AIS convention in Austin 2008?
Dan!
Oh i am so in love with that Seedling # 03-3b! Is that your only seedling of that one? i would love to get my hands on that one!!!
Lisa
I like the color saturation in 03-3b. The form is true also. Great to see colorful seedling when we have just had mush fall from the sky.
Cool Sibs Dan! Congrats. Keep us informed on when they become available please. Nice work there. The Edith Wolford/Ruffled Goddess cross is very nice and what an honor that would be for your GD.
Laura
Oh man Dan have you seen Tempo Two's selections and pricing?
http://www.tempotwo.com.au/
I just got their catalog today...WOWSA!!!!
Maybe we could get an order going to save money??

Hey everyone... I apologize for taking so long to get back to this thread. I appreciate each and every response. It's nice to know how others feel about your seedlings, especially when your growing space is very limited. I have always grown my seedlings in clumps (only been hybridizing for about 5 seasons) but have promised to make more space for the better seedlings this year, which means I must be willing to send more to the compost pile.
irisMA... Thanks for your comments. Most folks have liked the bright orange beards surrounded by the yellow haft marks. (second photo in the thread) I'm devoting more space to this one. The flower from the blue bud is the last flower from my 11-14 posts.... I think I'll take a page from Margie and list all future seedling as simply 1,2, 3. That's so much easier for everyone to follow. None of my seedlings will be at the Austin Convention. Wish I had sent some. 03-3b is a very nice prospect. Color and form is nice, and it has super sturdy stalks and good branching.
Anita... Thanks for your nice comments on 03-21b. It does have good substance and nice color saturation. I appreciate hearing that from a veteran hybridizer. I like the Batik Baby too... it just kind of grows on you. Unless it changes it growth habits, it will be a Border Bearded. I checked out your new thread about irises that didn't make the cut. I think I may have a few "dogs' to add to your new thread.
Lisa... I'm glad you like 03-3b. Unfortunately it is has grown together with other rhizomes from the same cross, which I planted too close to save space. The others are not keepers, so I will be sure to lift this one after it blooms to be sure I don't loose it. I'll see how many rhizomes I come up with... get back with me in late April. Barry Blythe at Tempo Two has been blessed with a special touch for hybridizing. He has so many very striking iris. I would love to go in on an order with you, but my garden is full. This is going to be a major year of culling, and re-thinking my direction on my seedlings.
Laura... Thank you for your very kind words. I'll be sure to keep you in mind if any of these become available.
Here's a few more seedling photos. I'll start with another Border Bearded that I've had around since 2004. It will be #1
Anticipating Spring Bloom... Dan
