Faraway Flowers Lilies (how are you liking yours so far?)

Isn't it amazing how different the angle can make them look. Lovely no matter what the angle or the name!

Mambo is blooming now. I think it is probably the darkest O. L. I have seen.

The reverse is very dark also, really a darker red than my photo shows.

I found that deep color of Mambo extremely tough to capture with my camera. Indeed lovely!

My camera tends to add too much blue. Sometimes I can correct it in my editor but I didn't try with this one.

Well Lady Liss is beautiful; I didn't know there was such a thing as an double oriental - learn something every day on DG :)

Blooming with the speciosums this year... Maywood. She took her sweet time. She came up 5 or 6 inches and just sat there, then took off and is about 3 feet tall now.

I'm really excited to report that Faraway Flowers has just announced the winners of the photo contest. I'm blushing and so very happy for a couple of my DG friends too. I bet there were some beautiful submissions, not like pictures with those flowers in it could turn out bad, right?.
Congratulations and I so look forward to another season starting in the coming year. Cheers!

I'm thrilled to pieces. I can't wait for next season. I like the idea of some of those Japanese hybrids. :)

Good for you Tracey! I don't recognize the other names though. :*) I actually used your photo slide show to help me decide on some lilies. I liked how Vise Versa looked in your pictures, but when I got my order from B&D they said it was sold out :*(

Ticker got 3rd prize

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I think it is victoriablu that got second, but I am not 100% sure on that one.

I had more fun taking pictures this year than I ever have. And I never win anything. So when I found out, I was surprised. It was really mainiac's photo archive and this photo contest that motivated me to take any pictures.

The contest was a really creative idea, I thought, for people to be inspired about her lilies and new business. Those lilies really are beautiful.

Were your lilies in quite a bit of shade? My 97- blah blah didn't have nearly the amount of color your lily showed. Smelled wonderful though.

I had mine in part sun on my south side. And with some of them, I wonder if soil pH has anything to do with color. I might move it to a less sunny place and see if it makes a difference.

It did smell just fantastic, didn't it? The scent of those Japanese Hybrids, just spectacular!

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm gonna have me some of those Japanese hybrids if they are offered again this year. ;) You guys have convinced me that they are a must. :)

Both of those pictures are really nice! Thanks for posting them. it's going to be awfully, awfully hard for me to resist some of FF's lilies with pictures like these out there.....

I know Faraway does gift certificates. That's how I got some of my flowers, as holiday gifts. The gift that keeps on giving ;)

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

oo la la those are beautiful pictures/lilies

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Hey congratulations to all you winners! Aren't the FFs just wonderful lilies!

I think the Japanese hybrids can be variable in color, as are many other OTs. Mine all seemed to bloom a good pink or pinkish-lavender, even 97-blah blah that was in an area that gets shade from about 3:00 on. Wonder what will be offered later this year....

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

I just can't wait. :) It makes me wiggly with anticipation! :)

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

All I need now is ... money....

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Ah, don't let a little thing like money get in your way. You don't need to eat this winter, use your food money for lily bulbs. :) LOL Sniff your way to happiness!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I like those FF lilies Japanese Hybrids because they capture such a unique color in lilies, even the fragrance was quite unusual.

Do look forward to those offerings in the next couple months. Chases the winter doldrums away too.

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Congrats! Beautiful pictures!!
