This is 'Painted Lady'
The darkest of the Japanese Hybrids that I have seen so far, but I do have a another one to go yet. I have had a high bud count on all of them and been very pleased with how they have held up in the garden. I chose to place mine in part sun, instead of full sun. We've had hotter temps the last couple weeks, with it finally cooling off a couple days ago. These have done well in the spectrum of temps.
Loving these Japanese Hybrids so far.
Faraway Flowers Lilies (how are you liking yours so far?)
OOOooo, purdy! Now I can hardly wait....
Casa Blanca is a gorgeous classic and very reliable too. Is that Black Beauty in your previous post Lilyl?
Please name her! I don't have a clue to what the red ones are. The white onece thought it was Ice Dancer, but it looks more like Casa to me? Help.
Farolito is the only FF that has bloomed so far and I think I have already posted a pic on some other thread. The rest are at least a couple of weeks from blooming. I had one no show, Terni, but I checked and she is down there patiently waiting for next year. One thing I can say about all of my FFs is they have the greenest, healthiest foliage of all my lilies.
Magnolia, you must enter the photo contest!
Lily_love, the red one does look like Black Beauty. Are the flowers small, comparatively speaking? It can be very difficult to identify lost label lilies and the white orientals are no exception. And there are more details to it than just the flower color. For example, how are the flowers oriented: facing up, out, down or somewhere in between. On a well established lily how many buds are on each petiole coming off the stem: just one at the end of the petiole or are there one or more buds on additional petioles coming off the main one (meaning more buds and longer bloom period). It can even get down to color of pollen and color of the nectaries (the dewy crevices in the center of the bloom). Bud color is also a consideration.
Here is a link to the Lily Register description of Casa Blanca. Notice that Casa Blanca is described as having outfacing flowers.

Mags, nice to see the pictures you posted of Faraway Flowers. Mine are at least 2 weeks from the buds opening.
Maxine
I have to go back and check and see which ones I got from Faraway Flowers.. :)
Each of these Japanese Hybrids have 8 or more very large flowers. I really, really hope that there are more on her site in the future. There is something very special about them. My photos have not done them justice.
I'm very excited about the photo contest. I certainly don't plan on winning, but what a fun idea, don't you think?
Yes, I do think it's a fun idea! :) Some of my Faraway Flowers are yet to bloom. ;)
Diann
Well, I think you have something to look forward to, Ticker ;)
Mine aren't blooming yet either. But I am amazed with the foliage on Ebony. It is the darkest green and extremely shiney. Is anyone else noticing that?
Yes!
Oh you devil, you are so far ahead of me! Beautious.....
What's even stranger, Moby, is that you have been so far ahead of me all season.
Oh Mags, they are beautiful!! Naner Naner Moby! :)-- My Exotic Dancer it thinking hard about opening. My Landini open Sunday, but I didn't get a picture of it. Now, it's going to rain for the next three days, so.... :) I'm not complaining tho, all the gardens really needed it...
Diann
These are so beautiful. Did you plant them just this spring? There's no info on the Faraway website right now. Can you tell me how tall these Japanese hybrids get? And is right about now their normal bloom time?
Wicker, Faraway Flowers had their first season this past spring. I don't know if they will do fall shipping this year, or if they plan on doing spring shipping only. I guess, one can always e-mail the owner and ask. :) I did get great bulbs from them. :)
Diann
The Japanese Hybrids this year are about 5 feet tall, maybe a bit shorter, and, as with everything in its first season, it will be a bit taller, I am guessing, next year. The double oriental is 2 1/2 ft. tall or so. I've been thrilled with not only the diversity in offerings, but the quality of the bulbs and communication with the seller.
I ordered them over the winter, got them early spring...and these were some mighty plump, healthy, bulbs.
If you are interested in ordering, I agree with Ticker, the best bet for finding out what the plan is, is to contact the seller.
Thanks, you guys. I'll do that. It does look like she'll be spring shipping only, according to the website. There's no specific plant info there, though, so in planning (dreaming) ahead, your descriptions and pictures are extremely helpful and tantallizing...
Some Japanese hybrids would be very Zen like. :)
What I will say, is that I don't have anything in my garden that looks quite like them. They are tall, strong stemmed, with large flowers. The coloration in each of them is unique. They weren't inexpensive, but I really find they were worth the investment, especially since I scaled them all ;) Can you tell I am one happy customer?
Leave it to Mags to scale the bulbs. :) I don't have the patience to do that, nor probably the skill. :)

Okay I'm new what is scaling the bulb??
Gloria
Scaling is a method of propagation that is used by growers to multiply their bulbs.
see information here: http://www.lilies.org/propagation.html
Despite it's name, it's very beautiful. Does it have a scent? My "Exotic Dancer" is trying to open and just hasn't gotten there yet. It probably opened in the rain last night...
It has a wonderful scent, Ticker. I hope yours is open when you get home.
Me too!! I hope it didn't get trashed in the rain.
Lovely! Just to make you feel better, I'll let your Exotic Dancer come live in my Naughty Garden, OK?
I forgot all about your naughty garden, Moby. Only at Moby's house..... ;)
