Susannah - Your garden is very pretty! And what's the blue in the foreground
of that last shot?

Here's a closeup of a very brightly colored combo in my basement garden.

Here's the "big picture" shot to show you where it is. And the
Clematis Henryi is starting to bloom in this shot, growing on
a very old rose of sharon.

The entrance garden is quite nice. The hosta are several years old
and really lush & big now. The johnny-jump-ups self sowed and I love
'em.

Wow, what a lovely texture you've got going there, Tam, with the sloping ground, etc.
The blue in the foreground of my last shot is veronica -- a lovely, perennial, heavy-blooming powerhouse all summer long.

Edit: This is the veronica in question: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/844/index.html

Here's the shrub border I put in a couple years ago, finally
looking like a real garden. The rose is framed by lavendar,
which will be blooming in a few more weeks.

And the other part of the same shrub border...

I'll end today's flurry of posts with my raging pinks garden...
Carnations, penstemon hirsutus and soapwort.

Tammy, absolutely glorious!!! Do you happen to know the name of the darkest pink with the almost blue looking foliage? I swear it's the one from my childhood that both one of my friends and I have been trying to find, so far to no avail.

Susannah, "Mr. Hibiscus in full voice." Love it - you are creative in more than just gardening!

Thanks Murmur. I'm not completely sure but I believe the dianthus are from seed
I got from the Hardy Plant Society: Dianthus Amurensis

Your garden is always so perfect, Susan. I have always loved the setting and the fence, and the grass, of all things. I just love how neat and clean it all is.

That being said, the Fairy Rose and Minuet in the Moon Garden is awfully special, too.

Suzy

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm so flattered Suzy, but I assure you, it's only what I let you see that looks so perfect! I have a rehab nursery area that looks really sad.. but I'm always working on it! Suzy, I've worked hard to keep things light and white or close to it in that moon garden, so imagine my surprise when I returned home from the lake this weekend and my supposedly white blooming newly planted glads from Costco came up as red as my cannas!!.. Oh well, they will make nice cut flowers before they get moved! :)

Susan

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

susan....lovely .....in pic 3603317 what are the huge green somethings coming up? they have no blooms.....and will they end up blooming?

you garden is gorgeus and meticulously taken care of ...

i have a ER area also....; i put prepotted stuff there or things still not quite ready to plant out....or that are limping along and need some TLC:)

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Thanks :)

Do you mean the Brugmansia / Angel Trumpets?? Yes, they will have incredible blooms :)

The large leafed plant to the left in that picture is Disco Belle Hibiscus that has buds.

The stick looking things with bumps on them?? Those are hot pokers/ Kniphofia that have finished and those are the seed pods on them. I guess I could cut them, but I kinda like it I guess.

Did I answer your question??

I'm getting the the point where I just plant out the rehab stuff in the garden and let it shine as it will in time.. Seems like I'm always acquiring and if I don't plant it out, it just becomes too much as I've already learned the hard way!

Susan

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

yes you answered my questions....brugs and hibscus....; will the hibiscus grow thru the winter there and come back?

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

yes :) They both will. They get cut down to the ground and come back every year.

:)

Susan

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

wow.....we are close to the same zone...does it not get that cold there?
