Looks a touch young to be out of the nest, maybe it fell (Collared Dove nests are very flimsy!). Might be best to 'park' it on a branch up a tree, to keep it out of reach of cats, etc.

Ok Resin... I was a bit concerned about that too... If she can get it into the back yard here it will be safe. I will go looking for it in a bit to hand carry it myself if I can find him/her.
Deb
Safe??...Is the hawk no longer hanging out on your fence??
Nice pics deb!
Love the ripple effect Grasmussen!
Deb the Thrasher looks a lot like our Thrush, do you have those? We have the Song Thrush and Mistle Thrust which I think is less common but both are declining in numbers.
The Mistle Thrust is called so because of it's liking for Mistletoe berries, it has a different song and is slightly larger than the Song Thrush. I have had some around and they breed here, I think they like my fruit!
The spots on their breast are larger and darker. I got this pic a few days ago through the kichen window.
Nice shot Gras!
Wallaby, Those are really large spots on the Thrush!
Darn blackbirds. That M. Thrust is really cool looking.
Nice Mistle Thrush pic!
Hi Pelletory - our Blackbird is a species of thrush; it behaves very like your American Robin (a close relative; they are all in the genus Turdus), and like it, is very welcome in gardens.
[European] Blackbird: Turdus merula
Song Thrush: Turdus philomelos
Mistle Thrush: Turdus viscivorus
American Robin: Turdus migratorius

Thanks for the info Resin. Is BW a big sport in the UK? I love seeing different birds from all over the world.
Nice pics wallaby!
Not sure what those are! Mistle Thrush doesn't have anything like that. Perhaps a bit of nest material stuck in its head feathers, or a couple of displaced feathers (it might be too busy feeding young to preen properly).

Is BW a big sport in the UK?
Yep!
Resin
Thx Pelle!
And wallaby, what great pictures!! I love your birds! Out of the corner of my eye my thrasher was moving like a Robin, same size, and making sharp pokes into the ground.. The streaks on it's chest were similar to the Hawk, very prominant. The other birds were staring at him too.
Not sure I will see much more of them. I would be surprised.
Resin, that Grebe looks like a good candidate for the Photo Shop program "red eye fix". LOL
Very interesting looking. Nice pic Resin!
I guess the ears are supposed to be there too Resin!
Interesting bird, are they local?
are they local?
Yep, fairly scarce in Britain; about 50-60 breeding pairs.
Resin
Nice Grebe Resin, such striking birds..
Here is a look out my window. If you all remember from the beginning of these BW threads it was all dormant back there, except for a couple evergreens and a lot of birds. Spring is coming on with waves of cool weather still, however a lot is coming back to life.
The mealie feeder in front is close to the window...it is well guarded by several Mockingbirds and Robins. I always hear the tweet of the Cardinal when he is out there, and quite a bit of cooing.
Nice pics deb, love the one of the Mockingbird.
Nice shots Deb!
About the Grebe, somehow "Black-necked" just doesn't give creedance to it's true attributes, it seems so common a discription.
Thanks all for sharing your photos.
