I have never grown SDB's and I am not sure I have ever seen them in anyone else's yard. Your pictures are really lovely. I like the first one and Awake and also Cat's Eye the best, but I would be willing to have any or all of them in my yard. I will have to try some in my next Iris order. I am just starting to reach out beyond TB's. Thanks for sharing them with us.
How BEAUTIFUL! Cats eye is sure Beauty to behold!
Thank you for sharing your photo's!

I could grow them here, if they need some cold. Cold we have. And they come on earlier than other iris, don't they.
Yes, SDBs start blooming earlier than the taller beardeds, and they should do just fine in zone 5a. They're great for the front of a border or in rock gardens, and they don't require as much direct sun to bloom as do the TBs. SDBs are an absolute delight!
I'm really enjoying your pics, Anita. How does Elephant Footprints grow for you? I've had it for several years with no bloom and almost no increase. I moved it into a different bed this summer in hopes that the new location with suit it better.

EF grows verywell I have had her a short time and have a nice blanket of it with increases averaging 3-7 per rhiz
Have to move all my little ones soon
Wow, lots of great new pictures. I especially like Hoodlum! We have a snow storm coming tonight or tomorrow. I will think of it as promoting SDBs for those who have them. Which will be me, this summer.
Like Greentree. Who is the hybridizer.
