Frog friends

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

We always have these little guys in our greenhouse. I was pruning the jade and almost got him. I assume he is what most people call a peeper. Here is an interesting note on what we call them on Nantucket and the other Island and the Cape Pinkletink (1918)

Nice photos!

I'd love to have a few of them in the GH. The "peepers" we have here are very active during the Spring and Summer and extremely loud. But I've never had them inside.

I don't have frogs, but when I was watering in the GH today a green anole was disturbed from his spot on the aloe. Guess he didn't like the bath.... Becky

Not in my GH I don't think, but this little guy made his home in a birdhouse! He is a true Tree Frog!

Azalea, that is a great shot. Has he/she been living in the bird house or was this just a random moment? How far a leap to the ground? Patti

I really don't know how long he was in there, but probably has made a home. It's about 8ft off the ground, we never did have any bluebirds in it. He may just climb down the tree?? My neighbor has an enclosed pool and and has several permanent residents - she has them all named, She also has a collection of small lizards that live there. She lets me store my large tropicals in there for the winter - so everybody is happy.

My sister and I brought a couple adorable green tree frogs home from the nursery we visit that's out in the country on a lady's property. I knew one was on the plant I was buying and told the lady I was taking him home if she didn't mind. She said get all ya want there's zillions of them out there in the greenhouses. Then the next time we went, I told her he'd made it home safely and hoped I found more on the new plants I was buying. She said she googled tree frogs after our previous visit and discussion about the tree frogs and said she found where you could get them on the internet ....for $37.50 each! LOL I hoped she wouldn't search my plants and try to charge me for each one she found!
I rarely ever see them probably because I have sooo much green foliage but I sure hear them when it rains.
