Concerning Martagons

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

I had one martagon I dug and replanted the fall before last that was about that size. It bloomed this past season with 4 flowers. Is this typical? I dunno. But they certainly will get larger in time. Let's see, that would make about 25 martagon section bulbs (that includes some bulbs with multiple transplants) that I have transplanted without missing a beat of growth. The key is as little trama as possible, in my opinion.

I was just wondering if they were charging a small price because the bulb was immature. It sounds like that is the case.

Martagons often sulk and don't bloom at all the first year or bloom little. Doesn't help if the bunnies eat them or the dog breaks the stem full of buds. :(
