This is 'Golden Sunburst' that I planted last fall. It has proven to be a fascinating bloom; raised papillae, a dusting of cinnamon, and sort of a spicy-citrus scent.
As I journey further into learning lily geneology, I understand it was L.henryi that introduced the sunburst bloom form into the otherwise trumpet shaped Aurelians. This lily is an interesting mix of both sides of it's family tree.
My first sunburst Aurelian!
Oh I like whiskers, and the long filaments. L. henryi is on my list.
Janet, I was hoping you and Kenton would take a look at these as I know how you both appreciate those fascinating details. Are'nt those filaments cool! You will certainly enjoy growing L.henryi.
I'm trying to collect some of the parents of modern hybrids to observe what traits have been inherited from them. Plunging myself deeper into obsession, lol.
Tried to get a side view of 'Golden Sunburst' to show the petal texture:
I can see nice flecking and the throat has L henryi influence, it is rather nice.
Love the unusual, take a look at the lilies on

L rosthornii is a must

There's some there that I must have, they hopefully will get themselves on -line by next year. If not, I'm just going to have to travel there!
K is away for 2 weeks, but might stop in at a library to update.
Thanks for the link Janet. Some really cool ones there, love those purpley miniatures!
More of your parade of lilies! And I'm loving it! they just don't stop for you, Gem!
Your 'golden sunburst' is really interesting.
I like the spotty one, and the green star on it, I love green on lilies!
Ya got to love a lily that spits in the face of adversity! :) Nice lilies. It's been way to hot here for me to go out and look for new lilies... Maybe tonight. ;)

Too hot?? Supposed to be 104 here tomorrow.
Oh Moby, I know you've had it rough. We haven't come anywhere near that temp in Eastern Iowa. The humidity has just been horrible, tho. In fact it has been so bad that I finally turned on the AC last Thursday... My husband has been whining about having the AC on, he loves the heat.. I sent him outside. :) Today it was nice, I think it got up to 89 or 90, but the humidity was down. I weeded tonight and took some pictures... Posted them on Midwest lilies Part 4.... Nothing special, but we plan on remedying that later this fall. :)

Sounds like your hubby and mine ought to be roomies.
Nice lilies Gem. I especially like the yellow spotty one.
The heat combined with my allergies have kept me in more than I like too. The light is such that I can get better pics early in the morning; that sure helps. It takes this shady hollow I live in a long time to warm up in spring, but I'm thankful it's a bit cooler here now.
Today I was greeted with the first 'Scheherezade' blooms!
Neat blooms, Gemini! Do some long range shots of your gardens sometime, so we can see how you have things laid out. ;)
Diann
Do you trellis your honeysuckle? I have a couple of honeysuckle vines and I need to do something with them.....
Diann
gemini, your Arena has much richer colors than mine. All your lilies are spectacular!
Thanks Wanda! I was surprised by Arena's coloring too; the pics most have posted have been more subtle. Especially odd since it's been so hot.
