THE SLUGGY FILES, PART DUEX: The White Circle of DEATH

"101 Things Removed from the Human Body"??? I've never even heard of that show. I must live a sheltered life. I would never view an autopsy. Did you apply that cream under your nose to stop the gag reflex from the smell or is that only something they only do on tv?

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

lol its not a cream, its Vicks salve, I hated it when my mom used to put it on my chest when I was a kid. I hate sticky things on me and I wouldn;t move all night!! The Vicks smells so strong that it is supposed to block the smell of......other things.

Tigger, are you sure it's Vicks? I thought it looked like an opaque off-yellow color? Vicks is sort of a transluscent isn't it?

EQUILIBRIUM,
I suspect it may be a favored personal formulation, but TIGERLILY is correct re: "supposed to block....etc.". I have not seen ACTUAL morgue personal use it, nor have I had to use it.........yet.

I have heard of some substance that someone came up with that will make lots of nasty smells smell like vanilla when it is applied under the nose. Can't recall what it is tho. Better living through chemistry. 8-P

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek, I will never be able to look at a jar of Vicks Vapor Rub again in my entire life without thinking of this thread. The visual I am getting is a little much so I think I will go upstairs to the medicine cabinet and toss my jar. Back to sunshine and rainbows and slime molds for me.

The Vicks does work, by the way. When I used to do animal control, which involved picking up some really nasty roadkill and floaters, I'd use Vicks to help endure the smell while having to transport the mess. The downside is that next time you smell Vicks in a totally innocuous context, you have to fight the urge to hurl. Probably more than you wanted to know...

spartacus - LOL funny!

What a lovely thought to run off to work with, "nasty roadkill and floaters...transport the mess... fight the urge to hurl". I can honestly say I could have never worked for animal control.

Ugh I'm still gagging over the picture of the planeria devouring the earthworm, now we've sunk to roadkill and floaters....there goes my career as the County Coroner. LOL Not that I'd live long enough to finish medical school..............Ewwww Ewwwww Ewwww...........

Hendersonville, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry, guys; I'll refrain from being so graphic next time. And Equil, animal control had lots of downside - roadkill and dealing with bad neighbors and animal haters - but when you could rescue an animal in distress or righteously bust an abuser, it was so worth it all.

Oh, no ...don't stop, we love being repelled, nauseated, disgusted, etc. It's part of our daily thrills!!! And we get to share them with other people...!! LOL

I just keep comin' back and comin' back to see just how bad it can get! I guess I need a life. LOL

See? Pati knows what I'm talking about! Sent the bald squirrel and the worm eat to my DIL, now she's convinced I've lost my mind.

Hey, Pati, if you figure out where to find a life, let me know, will you? I could really use one... I thought only die-hard animal people could sit around the dinner table discussing death, disease, and parasites: guess gardeners can too! Love these forums...

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

LOL @ spartacus. You're probably right about the die-hard animal people. Check out the Pet Forum sometime, things are discussed there that will amaze you!!! (grin). Meezer knows what I'm talking about........ http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/630714/
