You're going to love the Spurias, Belinda. Just make sure to give them plenty of room to grow. A lot of them get 4-6 feet high and wide, although there's a few that grow to about 3 feet~like 'Border Town' and 'Lucky Devil'. When I read about the culture for the Spurias, it always says they prefer alkaline soil. IMHO, they really don't care where they grow. Mine are taking off in some of the most acidic clay soil around and they're looking great. A lot of the growers around here will tell you the same thing. Once you get them established, they're tough, dependable and make great cut flowers. The only drawback is that they go dormant in the summer and the foliage tends to die back. It's important not to water them during this period because they can rot on you. That said, I know someone who waters them all year round and never lets them go dormant. I guess as long as they don't start going dormant, the water won't hurt them, but it will once they start dormancy.

Anyway......here's all the pictures I have available of Spurias (that I haven't posted yet).

This first one is 'Destination'

Oh so nice. Now that I have a digital camera I'm going to be going wild snapping pictures of my flowers... Heck, I might even get my gardens mapped this year with it's help.

Thanks so much for posting the info on JI's.. I have a couple of areas that I might have to try them in. :)

It is a gorgeous one! I bought it on Ebay a couple years ago. The only place I've ever seen it listed was Augusto Bianco's site in Italy. However, he doesn't ship to the states any longer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Anyone else know someone who sells it?

I've lusted after a few too, this is a yearly occurence, along with roses, daylilies, hostas,...

I have been wanting to try some of the brown/yellows, and got some really interesting ones at my supermarket, they are a bit dried but have shoots so should be OK, the rhizomes are solid.

Here's Festive Skirt, it says exclusive to Morrison's (supermarket) my, they are coming up in the world!

You know Laura, "Leaps and Bounds" is not a very good grower for me - - but it sure is breathtaking!!! It may do better in another climate like yours. My friend Peggi grows "Mandarin Morning". I'm hoping that I may get a rhizome from her this year. It really stood out in her garden.
