A lot of them get 4-6 feet high and wide, although there's a few that grow to about 3 feet~like 'Border Town' and 'Lucky Devil'. When I read about the culture for the Spurias, it always says they prefer alkaline soil. IMHO, they really don't care where they grow. Mine are taking off in some of the most acidic clay soil around and they're looking great. A lot of the growers around here will tell you the same thing. Once you get them established, they're tough, dependable and make great cut flowers. The only drawback is that they go dormant in the summer and the foliage tends to die back. It's important not to water them during this period because they can rot on you. That said, I know someone who waters them all year round and never lets them go dormant. I guess as long as they don't start going dormant, the water won't hurt them, but it will once they start dormancy. Anyway......here's all the pictures I have available of Spurias (that I haven't posted yet). This first one is 'Destination' |
