What would you choose as the top 3 lilies to have?

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

and if you decide to go with an orienpet instead, then I would choose Shocking

So nice to see you again, KD. Thank you for sharing your pics. :)

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow, I love Shocking! How long does it take a lily to produce another bulblet large enought to bloom?

Saint Louis, MO(Zone 6a)

kd- loved your lily photos - BEAUTIFUL.
bluegrassmom- I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sure someone does and will respond.

I'm a bit worried about my lilies-- They are up about 3-4 inches and we're suppose to get maybe 4 inches of snow.. Darn. If I cover'em up with leaves-- Will they be okay?

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I have had small bulblets which I've taken off and put in a pot of good organic compost flower in the third year. An occasional one will produce a small flower a year earlier, this was from an asiatic which I don't know the name of but produces lots of bulblets

I would choose Star gazer, Time Out, Casa Blanca (Orientals). Golden Gleam, Silk Road, American Flame (Orienpets) Grand Crue (asiatic) or Sea Shores (asiapet)

That Spring Pink is lovely. I don't think I've seen eith of these two before. Very nice. Where do you get your bulbs?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Pamget, you can grow Martagons in the shade. They are a woodland plant. I have some in semi sun, they are about 18" high, some in deep zero sun shade, they are about 3 inches high (some haven't shone up yet) and some in quite a bit of sun. So, there you are, if you have deep pockets you can have a lily garden in the shade.

Inanda in Winnipeg where a group of us each buy one martie annually and then swop scales.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Forgot to reply to fave lilies. Which ever are in bloom at the time. Henryi is a must though, to have the pollen. And a martagon and maybe Ct. King - again for the pollen.

The Pictured Lily came from Bloomingbulbs.com. I believe it to be Golden Gleam, but it came un-named in a group of 25 mixed orienpets. It became my favorite instantly....of 54 differt types of lilys I had bloom last year. Time Out(not pictured) came from Hosta Gardens of Burr Ridge, Illinois. 630-986-1900
My lilys have come from all over.....but The bulbs from the Lily Garden are well worth the money. http://www.thelilygarden.com/pages_lilies/asiapet_1.html
Good Luck!!

Gosh, look how neat that garden is! You'd never see anything that orderly in my garden. I go for the English Cottage look and by August there usually isn't a bare piece of ground to be found.

Libby, MT(Zone 5b)

I don't know about my top 3 but my absolutely top 1 is SILK ROAD. The blooms are huge and the fragrance is powerful and divine! The aroma is way better than lilacs or roses.
If I could only have 1 lily. Silk Road would definitely be the one I'd choose!

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

I have heard that from others also. It will go to the top of the List for next year. Silk Road it evens sounds pretty.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Silk Road is quite a plant. Not only does it have big, beautiful, fragrant blooms, it also will put out a second growth of blooms and sometimes a third set of blooms, making it one of the longest blooming orienpets.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Love Silk Road also and Scheherazade is a beauty. Tom Pouce is special to me as it's in memory of my mother, she regularly made Tom Pouce dessert (a Dutch dessert, a favorite of the hybridizer). And my all time favorite is Marco Polo Oriental - my first lilies, 75 cent clearance at WW, about 6 or 7 years ago. The fragrance is overwhelming in close quarters.

I'm not familar with Anita Gail. Quite lovely. It looks like a species cross of some kind. Can you provide any information about her?

Poland, ME

This is the information from the Lily Registry:

The Cocker are a couple from Minnesota. They raise very nice lilies. And Hartle & Gilman are also in Minnesota. They also have some VERY nice lilies. Minnesota hybrids are wonderful!

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Yes, I know. We have a very active lily society here and I believe the Cockers are long time members. The organization is attempting to photo document all Minnesota hybrids, but think some may have been lost over the years. I think they may be looking for photos. You might want to contact them and offer a photo of Anita Gail.

I am good friends with the chairpman of the bulb sale committee for the Northstar Society. Do you know Barbara?

I visited her in Minnesota last year.

I didn't notice that were from Minnesota. Great lily place!

Poland, ME

I guess I should Barbara Was the chairman of the Bulb Sale Committee. She has since resigned.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

No, I don't know Barbara, but have probably met her. I'm not real active with NSLS. I do volunteer work with the homeless and I'm on the executive board of my American Legion Auxiliary. Between those two activities and my personal interests, like my garden, there's not much time for anything else. Plus, I work full time. I guess you could say I joined for the 10% fall bulb discount.

I do have a friend and co-worker who is on the NSLS executive board this year and his wife, whom I also know, either is or was the webmaster of their site. Not sure if she still is or not. Anyway, he keeps me informed about what's going on. Seems like everytime there is a NSLS meeting, I have a conflict with something at the Legion. Someday, I'd really like to get into showing lilies, but I don't think it will happen while I'm still working.
