Help! Black bugs on nasturtiums

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

I think they're aphids... but I've never seen black ones before, had to tear out the whole nasturtium bed, it was just crawling with the little pests. Might not have been aphids, though, help me out here...

they are bigger than aphids I have encountered before and on the underside of the leaves and bottoms of the flowers and they do NOT curl the leaves.

The things are so close to my lettuces I had to pull them out but how do I kill those that escaped and not hurt everything else??

HELP!!!

Durham, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

they'll be blackfly - control thee by spraying with soapy water. They will in fact attract the blackfly away from your lettuces and other plants, especially cucumber apparently!
