We've had so much fun talking & sharing photos that our thread is getting difficult to load. Here we go again---
Margie--Samurai Warrior is my darkest red.
Tall Bearded Iris & iris Beds # 2
Margie, your still doing those dark reds. They go on and on! Here's "Devil's Fork" from woodland gardens. And you're right margie, their prices are lovely. Now what camera did they use to get these colors? Another one I'm putting in my favorite picks so something else has to go. No more shopping, unless it's for you guys!
And thanks for the move to the new thread. The old one will still be there and I'll visit it often.
Thanks Wanda for getting this new thread going. It was getting soooooooo long it took forever to get to the end of the other one. I was going to get to it this evening, but had to put it off because we had a HOA meeting to attend.
For those who are new to this thread - - Here is the link to "Tall Bearded Iris and Iris Beds" (Part 1)......................(If you'd like to view all the iris information and iris photos available there).

Wanda, How does Samurai Warrior hold up in the sun? Looks like some pretty nice tones of red in it too.
Also, for those of you who could no longer open the old thread............ this was the last photo I pictured there: "Aura Light".
Nice looking iris doss. Love those colors! I see it's a Space-Age iris - - notice the apendages? Looks like flounces or spoons.
I hope some of our friends from the PF forum will follow us over here and continue vising with us too. I know I'll be vising the old thread with you doss - - because of all the info and links available there. I need that info!! :-)
Here is a photo of "Back Street Affair".
Question: Does anyone have photos to post that have irises which look green or near green in color?
Doss, Devil's Fork is stunning! I love those bright colors! :-) Reminds me of a tie-dye shirt :-)
Margie, Back Street Affair is lovely. I love that touch of pink/lavender on the falls. It gives it exactly the perfect extra touch to make it really special :-)
-Julie
Oh my gosh, Doss. I cannot live without that Devil's Fork. Definitely ordering that one from Woodland's!
Backstreet Affair is also on my list. They are all beautiful!
LOL Trunnels! You sound like me. I've been known to say at the garden center that I "need" a certain plant or flower that I run across. Sometimes they just jump out at you and "want" doesn't come into the equation....it's a true NEED! :-)
-Julie
I know, Julie. My husband believes there is something really, really wrong with me. :-)
*giggling* I never say "need" to my husband in the context of flowers. It would be a wasted effort with him. I express these needs to the folks who would understand....those at the garden center! LOL
Sometimes at night he is sitting next to me on the sofa (watching tv while I am on my laptop) and he catches me buying from a co-op. I explain that I absolutely CANNOT pass up this opportunity or life will not be the same. LOL He said I am only minutes from the funny farm.
Terrie
ROTFL thanks so much for the great giggle Trunnels. Ya gotta love a husband who reacts so laid back about our obsessions. Mine would be uptight about it if I mentioned a plant "need". But if I said "there's an empty spot and it doesn't look nice that way.....there should be something planted there to balance the bed" or some other nonsense, he'd buy it hook line and sinker. Men....ya just gotta know how to word things with them ;-)
-Julie
Shoot, I try not to tell him anything about the buying part. I just wait until I have it all planted and then call him out to take a look. Of course, he loves it as long as he doesn't have to think about the buying part.
KE6KAD, let me know what you think of "Pride of Ireland", should it bloom this year. (and naturally posts PICs). :-)
Hi Wanda, "Patina seems to have somewhat of a green tone to the falls. Is that right? Interesting. Rainbow Hues is quite pretty!!
Trunnels and Julie, "Back Street Affair" is lovely!! For sure!! But, I had a hard time growing it. It was kind of a slow grower. Maybe it'll do better where you live. BTW - The 2 of you sound like you'd figured out how to "keep the peace" between you and your man and still get what you want. LOL Me too. Isn't that what marriage is all about? Learning how to keep everyone happy, and keeping a sense of humor about it all. By the way - - has anyone told you two - - that you are both smart ladies?
Getting back to Green-ish irises - - Wanda, Here is a photo of what " Green Prophecy" looked like at Cooley's Gardens.
Now that one would be worth a lot, Margie!!!
Marjiempv:
Now it's that lavender foliage I like!! Lol.
Hmmmmmmm All purple/lavender Foliage. I've seen that - - something new - - just recently. When I remember where - - I'll post a link.
How about your iris beds.............. what do they look like? Have any photos? Wanda posted photos of hers on the first thread. I was amazed at what they looked like!.............. with each changing season!! Gorgeous!
How would you like to be Schreiner's Iris gardens? Take a look at their beds!!! (click to open up the picture - - it's breathtaking)
There, OK.......... now I've stopped. OK!!! Here's the big question................ Whose brave enough now to put up photos of their garden? NOT me!!
Next big question: Should we all move in with the Schreiners? :-)
**This message was edited to make this box big enough for all of us to fit inside ..............so we can get there quicker than by bus or plane - - we'll just click on the Schreiners link. Do you think this box is big enough now?

after seeing that 2nd to last pic Margie, I think we should all win a free garden makeover by whoever designed that one! WOW! It's LOVELY! I'd never ever leave my garden if it looked like that! :-)
-Julie
Margie, Those are breathtaking pics. I am packed and ready to go. What time did you say we leave? ;)
I want to know what the cultivar is in the foreground of the FOURTH pic, Margie!! To die for.
I'm brave.......this is actually a daylily/iris/perennial bed in the making last fall. LOL....definitely NOT Schreiners material.
I think I was up til 1:30 am my time looking at iris sites after reading the entire Rebloomers thread.
Langbr - I'll bet Schreiner's beds don't look much better in the fall! And what army takes care of all those acres of beds?
Margie, these last group of photos are fabulous. Schreiners should hire you. (Speaking of which, Mastery is available there - and also - Mid-America garden). Don't be put off by Schreiner's $15.00 price tag though. At the 50% rate it's less than mid-america garden's $8.00. Schreiner's prices look expensive but if you buy $80.00 worth at the high prices, it immediately drops to $40.00 and you get 50% off of everything else. I'm not quite sure why they do it this way - maybe because of the cost of processing smaller lots, but I think that it does put some people off. You wouldn't see the discount by going to their website and shopping for the flowers. Their catalog is a real bargain at $5.00 too. And it comes off your first order. It's beautiful and has full color pictures of their cultivars. Of course we are building a pretty good color brochure here too.
I have "Anxious" on my list this year too, primarily because of it's prolific blooming. Nicholl's Iris has this one on their 2005 catalog.
I keep the peace with DH buy pointing out to him that he doesn't have to buy me cut flowers - I would much rather have Iris which last longer, reproduce themselves, and that I love. If that doesn't do it - well, he has hobbies too. Really, he is an angel and teases me about it but he knows that it makes me happy. He says that he is always so surprised how men can be really stupid by not making their wives happy. What a catch!
Plus that, while I'm growing Iris, I'm not out there spending money on much of anything else.
I'm really liking Iris City's offerings. Any comments about them?
I have driven past part of the Shreiners Iris beds on I-5 in the spring, it was just such an amazing sight I have never forgotten it. Good thing I wasn't driving, I would have caused an accident!
Must have pant drool pant gotts have it ( DEVILS FORK )
Its iris lust time again .Thought I had the cure ?
