calathea

Dayton, TX(Zone 9a)

I have about 10 calatheas that I inherited. but I am doing something wrong. They all have brown around the edges. Some of them have very large leaves while others are very small. I know they need shade but that is all I know. HELP

Beautiful full sized plants.
I'd repot them in just a bit bigger pot, plenty of perlite & peatmoss mix.
Then, if you plan to keep them in the house, I'd put them on a large bed of wet gravel. They love humidity and mosit but not wet soil. You can also invert a large wet plastic bag over them every night or so .
The brown edges could be from the air being too dry or from fertilizer burns??
They hate being root bound and mine hate fertilizers so I use very, very weak fertilizer or none.
In spring you can put them outside under a shade tree.

thanks so much. I'll give those suggestions a try. I don't want to lose them.
