Hi, is there anybody using an indoor light setup from Gardeners Supply Company? It's fun during Michigan wintertime.
I'm experimenting growing kale and spinach and lettuce for baby greens salads now.
Each plant has about 6 baby leaves which are yellowing.
My question, what fertilizer is recommended?
I'd love to connect with anyone doing similar gardening!
Indoor led light gardening
Hi! It's great to hear about your indoor gardening experiment. For indoor setups, especially during winter, a balanced fertilizer is key. A good option for leafy greens like kale, spinach, and lettuce is a water-soluble fertilizer with a balanced N-P-K ratio, such as 10-10-10 or 20-20-20.
If your leaves are yellowing, it could be a sign of nutrient deficiency, typically nitrogen. Here are some recommended steps:
1. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks. If the yellowing persists, you might need to increase the frequency slightly.
2. Ensure the soil pH is between 6.0 and 7.0. Leafy greens prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil.
3. Make sure your light setup provides enough intensity. Leafy greens need at least 12-14 hours of light per day.
