Sure is alot of poaching talk going around... Did Walmart have a sale on small shovels?
Sad day at llilyfans
Gee, they didn't have any left by the time I got there!
I got the last of 'em.. I have several that I would gladly do some trading on ... (very sly mischeivious grin)
Hmmmmm....I wonder if buggycrazy is not the grower then. Maybe she just acquires them and sells, but some of her pics sure look like she had freshly dug the bulbs. I don't think I have any of the boxes she shipped in to check for an address. I'll look just in case though.
mgh - that view is a prize in it's self!
What is a geocache? I think bugcrazy grows them herself. Just my considered opinion from her chat and pix.
Ginny who has ordered from her as gifts to US denizens. - sorry citizens willing to s------.
Geocaching is using a GPS to find a hidden cache box.

Geocaching? I LOVE DG--learn something new each day!
Like a true gardener, I hid a geocache near my house to show off some of my flowers! Check out this site and go to the camera icon about the middle of the page.

Edited to say: We didn't get to all of Tangent yesterday. That geocache had been out there for a month and no one had found it so it was really calling to us to be found! I'm going to try to get back to Tangent next week sometime.

Kewl, Mendi! I'm in the heart of GPS country here with Garmin a former employer and just down the road. Never got into geocaching, but I sure love reading the geocaching website!
Wow, you used to work for Garmin? Garmin Etrex is what we use.
Yep! The eTrex came out while I was there. Sis just left there after 12 years to come to work for DH & I, so I can be a stay-at-home woman of leisure! :-D Never really used the eTrex but LOVED that StreetPilot - great for traveling!
Don't know if you remember Brenda, but that geocache is in the flower bed I made after I first got on DG. I had asked if it was ok to put one in at the base of Sweet Gum trees. You were one of the first people to respond to my question. :-)
Mendy
Ahhhh....yes....I had forgotten that! Sorry 'bout the "i" on your name earlier. Was trying to remember if it was "i" or "y". Duh
No prob. I answer to just about anything! (emphasis on the "just about") LOL :-D When I used to work in retail people would see my name tag and ask me if the 'M' was supposed to be a 'W'. Good grief, I worked in a bookstore, I would hope I would know how to spell my own name! LOL! I think people get confused because it is with an 'e' instead of an 'i'. My real name is Melinda....my mom always said "Melinda is spelled 'Me', why would I spell Mendy 'Mi'? I think she just wanted to confuse people! LOL!
Geocache. I love it. I belong to a VW site with pix of old buses on it. The only ID is the GPS included in the picture.
I'll have to go to the geocache site to have a look. Things you learn on DG.
Inanda
star buggyzcrazzy also sells on ebay, i bought alot of lily bulbs from her on ebay last year.... nice big bulbs...(:
my daffs dig themselves to china.. i plant them 4 to 6 " in the ground and when i go to dig them they are 8 to 10" , must be because of our heat... i took a garden hoe to the gopher garden last year and hacked away at it deep never hit a daff bulb , then come spring they popped up in places i had hacked... i had forgotten how many i had planted.. but they did just fine..
LOL cici...'gopher garden' ...
The things you learn on DG's! .. geocaching... neat site... will have to check this out...
cici, might you have an address for her?
cici... is her ID buggyzcrazy ib ebay ? I will go check her out...
hi guys sorry for the late entrance but getting things done around here. boy its never ending... anyway buggyzcrazy is the id name.. i might have it spelled wrong... someone else in this thread e mentioned her for the lily auction but she uses the same name on ebay... i havent bought any this year from her because i cant have any gardens right outside my house yet since the siding isnt on and neither is the front porch.. whaaaa.. no floweys for me right outside this comming year, maybe if i am lucky though i will have time to plant some delphinium and larkspur from the 6 packs by the time its done.. i also have to keep an area for the tractor till the house is done .. so i can only come so close to the house as of yet.. sigh.. oh well.. at least i actually have a house now.. lol..
FSR, yes the gopher garden.... it used to be called the big flower bed, or big flower garden , but because of the stupid gophers and at that time i only had 3 cats, and prob 20 or 30 gophers they just had a field day in that garden and i ended up having to move over half of it to other gardens... it must be right ontop of a den... so now it is most unlovingly called the gopher garden,... i'll post pics of it in the other thread... the fav. pics thread.. before it became the gopher garden... (:
ROTFL, Cici, how many people can say they raise gophers and give them their own area.
LOL.. well kathy.. prob not many... (: but u just gave me an idea... i COULD set up that area as a target shooting area... i'll dig out the holes so those buggers come up to plug it again , and we could all sit in some lawn chairs , drink a few beers, and shoot at the gophers... it will be like a back woods mole smashing game... but with some amo behind it..lol.. i may even get a little daring and us my hubbys pellet gun but use the darts... he has used that on the little mice that the cats decided to bring to us (while they were alive...) and as soon as u say 'kittie?' the cat would drop the mouse and off he would run in our trailer... well i have a parrot and the trailer was too small to be shooting off the pellet gun incase of it bouncing off the walls and hitting him.. so he would kill them with the darts.... although now that i have 16 outside black cats... i dont see very much damage.... saw one of the little kitties eating a gopher bigger then itself... lol.. still i bet we could get a couple to come out of their hole... (: and then hang the dead gophers off of some stringers, the person with the most gophers on their stringer wins! the winner gets a hand full of irises..(: lol... what do u think?
Where do we sign up? ;)
Sounds like a new sport, although with 16 kitties there probably are not many left.
Cici, sounds like what I did when I was a kid. My family and I used to go shoot ground squirrels for the cattle ranchers. We used bows and arrows though! No pellet guns or darts for us. LOL!

Ground squirrels! That's not much of a target!
Nope, they sure weren't! But it was fun outshooting my mom and dad! Maybe I got more cuz I was lower to the ground?! LOL!
mgh.. we shoot them here too.. but with bow and arrow.??!!!! my hats off to u.. that takes skill if u ask me.. well u are more then welcome to bring ur bow and arrow,.. and if we cant find gophers , we always have ground squirrels!!! hubby saw one this year running across the front of our place with an apple in its mouth!!! and do u know i have yet to be able to eat one of my apples cuz there never any left !!!!!! so a shootin we go.. hubby took care of most of the squirrels two years ago... they were really bad then... as soon as hubby opened his eyes in the morning, he would grab his .22 and head out the door to go 'hunting' , there he was outside in his boxers and flip flops with pillow head.... it sure was a site.. till a neighbor drove by.. it was quite embarassing for him.. so the next time he went out, he made sure he put on his cowboy hat so they wouldnt see his pillow head.... (;
and moby... i'll put u on the list .. whatcha bringin? amo wise,..u bring whatever suits u... (:
I don't know Cici, I haven't shot a bow for probably 20 years! I'd love to get back into it though.....when I find that spare time I've been looking for.....LOL! Ground squirrels were always good practice though. Would be fun to try it again!
ok so ur in.. let me put u on the list ...

WEAPON: Bow and Arrow

ahhh mhg, what will u be drinking? and do we all like BBQ's? maybe some finger foods like Baby back ribs???
hmmm....well Pepsi is my main drink, but I like an occasional "Mike's Hard Lemonade." Love BBQ's...baby back ribs....YUM!!!!
My DH smokes a mean rack of ribs -- maybe I'll let him come along and we'll call him "cooky" like in the old west days. I'm a better shot with a hand gun so that would be my weapon of choice. On honor of the occasion, drink of choice would have to be Tequila shooters.
ohhhh maaaaan!!!!
mhg, i LOOVE mike hard lemonade!!!! i usually drink that in the summertime... and watch out if i decide to drink it while gardening... lol... i do like to lay in the sun and drink it.. make for a darker tan...(:
moby, girl u tell 'cookey' to get his bottom in gear!!! the BBQ is waiting for him... and T.shooters!!! ur my kind of girl... i just had about 5 shots of that on sat.night.. yes i can put away the tequilia, the saint polly's girl just wasnt cutting it....ok so far we have

anyone else want to come play? lilyfan did i hijack ur thread again???? i hate when i do that!!!! (: why dont u come join us at my place... we will get ur mind off of that poor lily u slayed....come on girl get ur weapon and come hungry!
Hey chrissy it's been awhile since we talked! Sounds like fun, I could use a little reprieve.
Let's see I got a mouse with my little shovel the other day, but my weapn of choice for gophers or ground squirrels will be my .22 rifle. Make my drink a Bud light, 1 will be enough I'm an easy keeper!
I don't mind the hijacking, this has been much more interesting!
lilyfan, you aren't bringing the .22 to the herbaceous conference in Ames are you? I could grab a shotgun & we could pick off bulb thieving squirrels in the early morning light. Do you suppose the university would appreciate us?.
I slaughtered a dahlia tuber yesterday, please don't shoot the cute little squirrels. I really think they are darling with their fat cheeks full of my tulip bulbs.
LOL -- veeja!!! I keep sending my rat terriers outside every 1/2 hour or so during the day because I have a window beside my desk and watch a pesky squirrel sidle down the tree trunk and start pawing in my bed of freshly planted bulbs. They may not every catch the marauder, but maybe he'll be hesitant about stopping by my place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and stay on the other side of the street at the neighbors buffet.
