Does anyone know where I can order those soft metal strips used to tag plants for identification?
The metal is very soft and you "dent" in it to write then you attach it thru a hole in the tag with wire to the plant and it lasts forever. I have hundreds of seedlings with magic marker tags that always fade out.
I attached a photo of what I am looking for. I don't even know what they are called to look it up myself!
Looking For Soft Metal Tags
Good morning Carol:
I order supplies from this site: http://www.growersupply.com/
I have been extremely happy with every order I've received. You might be able to find some tags on ebay also.
Thanks, delecie. I'll try your site first. I don't know what they are called so I haven't checked ebay yet.
I'm excited! My cherimoya and key lime seeds have sprouted!
I should of checked before I wrote back. Yep, they are on the site you just gave me and are called Metal Impresso Labels. Thanks again!

cyberageous, I make my own. Check out http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/461624/
I made some from dstartz's posting and I think I have found the answer to tagging my plants. The roll of foil tape was 6.99 at HOme depot and will last me for a few years at least. Dstartz, you should write to the company that makes the foil tape and give them this idea for marketing their product! It's a great idea. Thanks, Lou
I buy copper foil in craft stores and cut it to make markers. It;s soft, can be inscribed easily with a sharp pen and lasts a long time. Last roll I bought was 10" x 10 feet, for about $10 or less. Made a LOT of tags, and I used a hole punch for a place to tie them to the plant. Still have some left.
Fantastic Ideas! I go crazy too when my plants aren't marked and get mixed together. I have to transport several varieties of quava seedlings to the west coast and they all look alike. Same for the citrus and bananas. This will really work and I already have that metal tape!
Those markers are on ebay more reasonable than anywhere I have found. Look under search for 'garden markers.' I make my own markers, if you want directions look under this forum link.

You guys are too cool! I can't tell my palm seedlings apart without tags. Actually quite a few things look the same to me! I started tagging as I take seedlings to the farm.
