Moving perennials between zone 10 and zone 6a

I live and garden in Kentucky, zone 6B. But I am in zone 10 from December until April. Can I dig up a perennial from my Kentucky garden and take to Florida, propagate thru divisions, grow in pots for 5 months and then take home to Kentucky in May and plant (for example, coneflowers, hardy geraniums, russian sage,)? My purpose would be to give very small divisions a head start so that they would be fuller and healthier this year. I am worrier about amount of daylight and if they can get thru the first year without a cold period?
