This is a grass I really enjoy each year. It's listed as hardy to only zone 6, but has lived many years for me in zone 5. Only grows about 2 foot tall so works well in perennial beds. Great for fall and early winter interest.

'Hameln' Dwarf Fountain Grass
I loved ours until we split it... unevenly....
They didn't fill in fast enough for me...
So I split it again... at least now there is a sort of symmetry...LOL

Know what you mean. I have split mine many times and it always takes a couple years to get back to looking really good. I have about 9 clumps now and need to give some away.
