Google is like a GJinnih ( a spirit like the one in Alladihns lamp lol) When you type a word or a phrase into Googles search field, it will bríng you exactly what you need and more too :-) That is more, than I can say of other search engines ... except for those that use Google to search for them :-)

Durham, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

google is the simplest and easiest search engine i've ever used, and i've tried most of those listed. it doesn't usually bring up anything you wouldn't want the kids to see either, lol

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Sherlock.2. then. it has them all listed at once.

Mansfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Until I started using google, I never got what I was looking for. I only wish the folks who created it would work on a whole set up for running a computer for idiots like myself. : )

(Zone 5a)

I think Ask Jeeves is a joke, they give you everything but what your looking for. I use Google and pretty much can find what I am looking for if I spell it right and sometimes when I don't lol.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i like using google, give me good results most of the time.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I'm used to using Google and seldom I have got disappointed. It gives you alternates even if you mis-spell the command.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Google is the best one I've found too...and it will even give me just pages that are in Canada and images of a plant too if I am looking for one.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I use web ferret, but I do end up with some stuff I don't want.

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

I use HotBot. But will try Google.

Ace, TX(Zone 8a)

Google is the greatest!

Iola, WI

I thought Yahoo! search was powered by Google?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

google rocks! google is awesome! google is in turkish also....isnt that funny? I can do a google search in turkish, and get many results....

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I used a lot listed in the beginning, now I always go to Google, they seem to know just what I am looking for and they must know, I hate to SHOP! LOL

Rapid City, SD(Zone 5b)

Google is my search engine of choice - seems to get to things that no one else does.

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

I have tried to find many different things on many different search-machines, but Google always came up with the goods.
It is also so easy to use that it makes the others look like message-boys against professionals.
Looking for some Scottish things (as is my wont), in some cases Google has found some sites for me which I didn't know existed. In fact, on one occassion, I was looking for something in Glasgow, and Google gave me the answer with more than 20 sites (all different), whereas none of the others found anything at all.

Google for me folks!!!

Wintermoor

I use a mixture but Google is the main one even though I don't look for Scottish sites ;)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

You mean there's still something else out there except Google? Why? ;) Poor Ask Jeeves should be filed away somewhere and never found again.

I use their Google Toolbar in my browser and love it! The article Yahoo Internet Life did on expanding your Google search capabilities is great. I posted the link here in a thread at http://davesgarden.com/showthread/271883.html

Valley Village, CA

Okay, I'm sold, how do I get google.?
I was recommended to DG by a person who was dissasified with another garden site. Norma

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Norma, you can type in www.google.com into your browser window. Or search for the word "google" in whatever search engine you currently use.

For the record, I voted for Google - I use it a BUNCH. I've used Northern Lights and Ask Jeeves in the past; their technology is different, and (in that past life) I was interested in how it worked. I see many don't like Ask Jeeves, but it can be a good starting point for those who aren't skilled at web searches.

But in the past few years, Google has definitely made their search engine extremely powerful and user-friendly. We've come a long ways since the good ole days when you had to know the URL of the site you were lookng for :)

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Google at our house. Hubby swears it's the fastest too.

Yes, Pebble Turkish and Danish too lol Almost any language! Just press the "language tools" link and you have a broad variety of Languages to choose from. When you enter your site of choice you can further choose to search Websites origin in this Country or Websites only on the particular language lol Its top professional and it is hard to come out with any wish, because it is already there :-)

Versailles, CT(Zone 7a)

I use Google a lot. I'm a translator and I often have difficulty with finding the English of some German (or Swiss) expressions and the dictionary sites are useless for the more specialist words. So, I simply type the word in Google and it nearly always comes up with a choice of sites, one of which has the solution. I find it much better than any of the others I've tried and I'm not surprised it's winning the vote.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Speaking of translations, one of the most enjoyable series of e-mails my friend Angie and I have ever had are ones we sent back and forth with familiar song lyrics we'd translated into another language and back from English -- it's a riot! We used AltaVista's translations, found at http://babelfish.altavista.com/ for this. :) Try "Green Acres", LOL.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I am shamed to admit that I too, use google... and I work for a competitor!

Tilton, NH(Zone 4a)

I use Sherlock, but occaisionally Google. I voted for other.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

only google. I love the images.google.com I use it every single day

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Google is like a trusted friend who has all the answers. I dont know what i would do without it. I sometimes find hours have passed and I am still enthralled in learning new things etc.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Thanks for this posting. Was told of google before. Didn;t get a chance to really try it out till now. I am sold!
