I'm a newbie to Sempervivens. I just ordered a dozen from Squaw Mountain Gardens. Most are $2.50 to $3. More than 300 varieties. I'm sure they have whatever you want.

One question: Are they all hardy in Zone 5? Any suggestions for protecting them from deer?

Fairchild Air Force , WA(Zone 7a)

I have Hens & Chicks that turn a purplish red all over in the winter & I believe by mid summer they're mostly green again. I don't understand that.

I have yet to lose any in my climate, which is also zone 5.

Vancouver, BC(Zone 7a)

I have fuzzy crimson, if you're interested.
