I'm sort of universal. I bought from the Co-ops, phlox from another nursery,(supposed to be delivered 2 weeks ago.) Seeds from T&M (came in a week), plus I've already visited 3 local nurseries already this year!
And I don't have any place to put any more and....(Also a few items from the Henry Field catalog!) and...tomorrow is another day!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Ditto here. I bought tomato and pepper seeds from three different (and new to me sources) this year; seed potatoes from another place; onions from a third; just placed an order for some hellebores online, then turned around and ordered perennial seeds from a "never heard of 'em, but we'll give 'em a try" place.

Locally, I've bought ferns and groundcovers, tools, seeds, inoculant, fertilizer, etc. In a few weeks, I'll get new shrubs from a wholesaler in McMinnville, which is a mecca for all manner of plants - located about an hour's drive away.

And all this is in addition to the hundreds of plants and seedlings in my greenhouse, LOL. Okay, I admit it - I'm addicted, and Spring is definitely peak season!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

I like to see what I am buying...so I go to my local nurseries.

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5b)

The only mail ordering for me this year is the co-ops. Hostas, wild flowers & daylilies (can't wait, they should be here soon!)

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I buy a lot of stuff through the mail and a lot more locally. If it's garden/plant related, I'm buying it - books, tools, seeds, plants, I feed the UPS guy fresh cookies so he doesn't complain when they all come one day apart rather than all together!

And then there are all of my favorite nurseries, and stuff at the 'marts and yard sales and the Amish lady up the road and - - - -

I tend to buy mainly seeds by mail now, I use a couple of places for plants by mail but I prefer to see what I'm buying first or at least have visited and spoken to the people who work in the nurseries.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I pretty much buy everything through the mail. I don't have a local nursery, only walmart. I do buy a few things at walmart, but the majority comes from online sources.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I voted for buying almost everything by mail, but meant that in the range of items sense. I also by almost everything locally - so it was hard to find the right choice to vote!
Spose I just buy a lot full stop, lol!

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

tis a pity we cant tick more tham one box. in any one year I buy plugs, bare root, plants in growth and probably purchase 90% of my plants mail order or online.

This is because N Ireland doesnt have even one nursery the equivelant of some of the UK mainland specialists.

Got the mt. Fuji collection form Parks seeds. So far. Not impressed. you get 5 packets of 20 seeds each I believe. If I get 5 total plants. it will be a miracle

Porterfield, WI(Zone 4b)

I'm afraid I'm totally addicted. I have ordered seeds from Parks, Jungs, and Pinetree Seeds. I have orders for plants from Jungs, Mellingers, Bluestone Perennials, and a couple of Cheapies, just because their so cheap. I also have ordered lots of clematis from Garden's Alive when they had their super sale going (got them today, and I'm not one bit sorry, they look pretty darn good for the price, small, but well packed and the new growth looks vigorous) I ordered a few perennials from some I can't remember now, I'd have to look it up, and participated in the hosta, wildflower, daylily, and bearded iris co-ops. I almost forgot the 20 stella d'oros and 40 mixed hostas I picked up bare root from Wally's mart dirt cheap, along with a few various and sundry other bulbs and tubers. Oh yeah, I even got a few dormant plants and bulbs at the grocery store, the ones in the little boxes. And I have a lot to pull out of the base ment, and add to my existing gardens. Is there a name for people like me???? I can't stop!!L

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

There are two companies with great catalogues here in Germany. One is near Cologne, and the other up here near Hamburg.
I use both for plants and seeds. I have never had a problem with any plant not growing, stunted or the wrong plant. The payment is either by card or bill, and they always send a wee present in their cartons. From one, (Bakker near Hamburg), I got a new set of secateurs, and a branch trimmer, and from the other (Pötschke near Cologne), I got a couple of summer seed packets.
Both companies called and asked if I was satisfied with my order.
Now, that's a great service.

All the best

I don't do much outdoor gardening, so I usually buy on a whim.

I'm certainly going to try the upside-down tomatoes this year though!!

My landlord (I rent a single-family home just outside of a small town) has a great garden in the backyard. He's offered to let me use a portion of it and this year I may take him up on it.
