Anyone up and about? March 23..

I would love a greenhouse. Wonder if I could actually put one up. I like the tunnels! Do they work just as well over here or do they become too hot and himid? (Or even humid ...lol)

Oh silly me i forgot to mension, Justmelisa, I asked my mum about your painting, she has no knowledge of it, but i've written it down for her and she's going to ask her art tutor next week.

I love him too Daisy - we watch him over here on Ground Force and then Charley has a new programme called Charley's Garden Army - very good. Alan, gentleman? Hmm......I mailed you about 30 mins ago - are you ignoring me? LOL

Hello Daisy, how are you, yes i have been keeping an eye on the time too, but you have an hour yet.

Louisa, now whos not reading the posts, lol.

Yes but im so excited about seeing him i can hardly type. Any of you going to Gardeners World Live this summer? I've wanted to go for the past 2 years and finally me wish has come true.
ooooooooo I get to see him in the flesh!!!

Oh dear, do you want to sit down a minute daisy, lol, i fancied going to it, but i could never find anyone here who wanted to go.

Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom

Oh Alan, a party to go to but nobody to go with, how sad.LOL
You can come with me, I'm sure you'll be better company than my hubby! I meen that in the kindest of ways, but my husband has no interest in gardening what so ever, and i can see myself dragging him round!!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Patty - yes that's exactly what I mean. We are going to put a lovely shed in our garden and it is going to have skylights and many windows. I suppose this could almost act as a greenhouse eh? Alan, I didn't understand your post, but I do now....LOL!! As for Daisy. Well she has got it bad, swooning over Alan. Daisy did you know that my garden was on TV back home and that Dr Stephan Buchazski came and did the shoot. Now, I didn't like him, he was a bit of a poof, but in a nice way I suppose. I guess he is what you might call 'yer upper-class gardeners' gardener'. I did meet Roy Lancaster and his friend (the one with the limp) they are LOVELY. sigh.......!!

yeh. i know what you mean, my ex was like that, spoilt it for me dragging her around, you get fed up with them and end up leaving before you have seem it all.

He's what you'd call a true gentleman. And i'd say he's georgous, in a rugged type of way. Makes me go week at the knees!!! He writes steamy novels to!!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

My DH tolerates my obsession with gardening and the rounds of nurseries quite well. You see, I am easily pleased and don't spend my money on jewels and stupid possessions. But I do love my bone china also - another passion.

Well Ladies, thank you for the pleasent company, but i have to go, other company has just arrived, so i will catch you later, bye for now.

Alan.

Yes...oh yes..

Luckly my hubby thinks its funny, but he may change his mind when I see him in the flesh.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Patty - I wouldn't swoon over him. Don't like his haircut! But he IS the sweetest person. I don't think I 'swoon' over anybody these days. Now......in the past!! The best looking guy I ever met was a guy in the Royal Fusiliers he was from London and to this day I can still see his face.

40 minutes to go
40 minutes to go....I suppose i have got it bad haven't I, oh dear, do you think i could get councelling?

Actually when I think back.....I was eighteen when my father was drafted to Malta. In those days, it was a major port. You know, every Navy under the sun and all the troops. I suppose once you're a part of the Forces you sort of meet them all the time. Well, I was pretty popular (shame - blush!!!), but we were good girls in our family. Mum was a strict (but gorgeous) Catholic and we never messed around with boys, if you know what I mean. I can't believe we were so innocent when you think of the kids today. Anyway, I would have three dates a night, twice a week because I was only allowed into the city that many times. So my first date would meet me at the harbour steps (I worked for the Admiralty in the dry docks) and take me out for tea. A couple of hours later my second date took me to the cinema and my 'best' date would take me dancing, get a cab and take me home. The last date would have to escort me into my home and have a cup of tea before he left the house - it was my father's rule. Sounds awful now when I think about it but great fun. Obviously, the better looking guy (the one in the Army) was my last date of the evening....LOL I have so many stories I could write a book!

Patty, it was such good fun. The guys I dated were really such nice people. I don't know how they put up with me! As I said, there was no monkeying around. We were Catholics remember and we would have been scared to death to fool around in those days - you know the wrath of God!!! Happily, these days God has become more forgiving!!! Or so we are taught! Actually I'm glad it was that way because life was very carefree and lighthearted and I never got tangled in any heavy love affair. That came later!!! Much later .....lol! I married my first love affair :-) He died very young. He was on Christmas Island when the 'powers' tested the A-bombs. As a result of his exposure to radiation, he died of cancer.

Come up for air to make myself a cuppa! Wow you've all been busy!!! I always thought my Mum simply meant "better than nothing" but expressed in a lot more colourful way. I never asked her what it meant. I suspect idioms are hard to translate exactly.
I used to enjoy studying when I was younger. I thought of it as a kind of exploring with the mind. A type of mental adventure you might say. I had quite a break from it, now I'm trying to get back into practice again. But this is from necessity rather than choice. I really envy people who can do something practical liking making teddy bears or preparing good meals. But I'm lousy at sewing.
I don't mind Alan Titchmarsh but I always preferred Geoff. Where are you going to see him Daisy? I've always found a sense of humour attractive in a man. My boyfriends were generally good-looking. A couple were officers in the Royal Navy. I was going to say I never saw either of them in uniform but oh that sounds bad!!! Better get back to my article on software licensing... Bye for now!!!

I'm quite tired so you'll have to excuse me if i lose the plot along the way.
The show was great, the two other presenters hogged the lime-light a bit by my opinion.
Do you have any good gardening programmes where you are? Where ever that is? Excuse my ingnorance, but i can't tell you have no address under your name!

Hello Patty! Tim and Rodney both had fair hair and blue eyes. And my, they were good-looking! And they were both Systems Analysts and both musical! Tim was like me, a student at the City University in London. We met through the Drama Society, or through mutual friends more accurately. Anyway we both had solo spots in one of the University's productions. I was seeing somebody else at the time - Russ, a very nice but earnest young philosophy graduate. Tim felt a bit guilty over that I think. And he also had several more years to serve overseas and just was too young to know how to handle it. I only saw him in student guise.
I met Rodney through being involved in politics. He was doing something terribly hush-hush. He was involved in studies to do with nuclear disarmament and had signed the Official Secrets Act. His work took him all over the place and eventually a distance relationship got a bit much for him as well.
It must take a very special kind of person to cope with the strains of maintaining a relationship over protracted separations. From what you all say on this thread there must be some really dreadful experiences that the men and women go through if they serve their country. My Dad was torpedoed by the Germans during World War II - he was on a raft for 4 days. As the highest ranking officer he had to write the report about it. I still have it, together with his medals. I've always been very proud of him.

Hi Lisa
Your comment about having Bar-B-que reminded me of this. My sister and I went down to N. Carolina ( We are from Long Island) during Hurricane Fran and we wound up at a High School shelter because there were no Hotels left. Red Cross was there and asked us if we wanted some Bar-B-Que. Where we are from we either "Have" a Bar-b-que ( as in fire up the grill) or its how we fix a particular dish- could be Steak, chicken, seafood, or pork. So when we were asked if we wanted Bar-b-que... we asked "Bar-B-Que what?". LOL
It was explained to us but we sure did get a kick out of that!!
If your reading this that means your back... so welcome Back Lisa!
